The country demands it. Mitch better whip the senate in line with that argument. We can not face a 4-4 tie on a Michigan or pa election ballot dispute. It will be civil war. Currently, the Republicans are appealing the Michigan and PA decision To allow vote counting to continue after Election Day. The republic deserves a decision on that, not a tie. Republicans need to man up.
That may happen. No guarantee that Mitch will get 50 votes. Plus it's not Manchin's election year so we won't be able to get a vote from him like he did for Kavanaugh.

The local talk show guy said that the SC has to have all 9 people on it to decide a case. Seeing as this election will probably contested, they need to confirm someone ASAP. (I have no idea if that is correct or not.)

Here’s hoping any decision needing appealed to the Supreme Court comes from the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals (Michigan case) and not the much less reliable 3rd CCA (Pennsylvania case).
We lost the most political leftest on the SC so if anything it would be a 5-3 vote not a 4-4 vote. Unless that slime ball Roberts flips (again).
