The ‘Civil War’ promoters on this website seem to just be ‘basement dwellers’ of a different flavor.

They are all basement bad asses, just spoiling for someone to fight the new civil war for them. They need to do some reading about CW1 to see how vicious and devastating the first one was. There will not be another civil war.

The first one never even needed to happen. If the founders have ever rolled in their graves, it was then. I think they believed profoundly that they had created a Constitution that would eventually lead to the end of slavery, without war.

But many individuals were very pig-headed, back in the day. I hope we’ve evolved, since then.

The forces propelling the current unrest have little in common with the 1860s. Now, the pre-WWII Spanish Civil War, that might be something worth studying. Most people in the U.S. know little enough of our own national history, so that bloody struggle in Spain is mostly a big question mark. Add in some later Maoist twists and that's the sort of "civil war" that we could see. The new "Red Guard" is betting that we won't see the need to organize and fight back until it's too late.
