The Commerce Department announced Friday morning that it would ban U.S. business transactions with Chinese-owned social apps WeChat and TikTok on Sunday.
The announcement comes ahead of an expected statement Friday by President Donald Trump on whether or not the government will approve a deal for Oracle to take a minority stake in TikTok and become a trusted technology partner for the company in the U.S.
Its unclear if the Commerce Departments announcement means theres no possibility of a deal going through before the Sunday deadline, and it could be an aggressive move from the Trump Administration to push for its original intention for TikTok to be fully owned by a U.S. company.
At the Presidents direction, we have taken significant action to combat Chinas malicious collection of American citizens personal data, while promoting our national values, democratic rules-based norms, and aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws and regulations. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said in a statement Friday.

Oh wait, THEY ALREADY DO!
I like it when he tells big tech what to do. I think this may be the first time. I do not know why we dont talk of big tech political censorship being a civil rights violation.
Trump needs to blow this off until the election. A ban will only antagonize GenZ and Millennial voters.
DJT doesn’t just talk. He acts.
If our election can turn on Gen Z-ers angry that they can’t download TikTok, the country is lost anyhow.
Requiring Apple to revoke the app's certs would disable it on Apple devices.
Doing similar on the Android Play Store would ban the app's execution on Android devices (called "dropping the ban hammer" at Google.)
IMO, banning downloads means little/nothing. It's just telling the idiot millenials to hurry up and download it and gives them three days to do so.
What I like about this move besides being BOLD, is that it will bring AWARENESS to todays youth whom survives on this app. daily, hourly. They will be forced to ask questions, initially they will be p*ssed, say What the F’, yet will have to in some way have to question why? For their own good and future, it brings to the forefront that China is not out for their best interest.
If our election can turn on Gen Z-ers angry that they cant download TikTok, the country is lost anyhow.

The younger generations will at some point be deciding the future of the country and its pretty clear what they will be voting for.
“Thirteen year-olds hit hardest. Most vow not to vote for Trump in the upcoming election.”
“Democrats ask the thirteen year-olds...’What are you wearing?’.”
Houston Intervened in US Political Movement

Radio Free Asia (RFA) published an article explaining the reason that the U.S. closed Chinas Consulate in Houston.
The article stated that the U.S. has known that the staff members at the consulate were conducting suspicious activities, but, for a while, it did not take any action. The Second Department of Chinas Peoples Liberation Army (PLA), which is the PLAs intelligence unit, sent staff members from a large network company, with fake IDs, to Chinas Consulate in Houston. Those technicians used a large video platforms backend data to identify people who might participate in the Black Lives Matter (BLM) and ANTIFAs protests and then created and sent them customized videos on how to organize riots and how to do promotions.
The purpose was to weaponize big data technology. It delivered relevant materials precisely to those people who were most likely to participate in the protests, while other people could not even find those videos.
RFA did not spell out the company names. A Twitter account said the technicians were from Huawei and the video platform they used to identify candidates and push videos to was TikTok.

....malicious collection of American citizens personal data...
President Trump is spot on!!!!
TikTok, WeChat, and also Google, Facebook, Twitter, all social media, share the foundation of American Citizens’ Personal Data.
Social Media hoovers up all personal data to exploit, datamine, sell, and influence peoples opinions.
If you are going to hoover up peoples personal data, THEN YOU MUST SEND LARGE DOLLARS TO THE TREASURY.
Social media is NOT bringing people together, it's doing the opposite.
I was on Face Book for a couple of years just to experience it and look up old friends. I was surprised at the awful things said to me by who I considered a friend because I didn't agree with them. But what really made me cancel FB was the inane daily postings of people who thought others gave a shit about their breakfast or the 3 seconds more they ran or drive time to work or whether to have a taco or burger for lunch. Dip shits all.
Twitter is the worse. Anonymous posters saying just any crap they would never have the nerve to tell a person in real life. Never signed on and will never us it.
I have something to say, I'll use an open public board like this Free Republic or Town Hall.
However, for very personal or controversial messages, I used encrypted programs like ProtonMail.com. Catch is the end recipient has to be signed on also to decode the encryption. However, it's free.
I personally don't think they're (a)that smart and (b)really care to be inquisitive about things. I'm willing to be wrong however.
