In late July, Americans across the country received unsolicited seeds from China in the mail. State and federal agencies advised against planting them.
But you know Americans. Lots of them planted the seeds anyway.

About a month ago, I did receive seeds from China. I guess China because it looks like Chinese writing. I thought, Oh cool, maybe Burgess seeds or one of the seed companies send me some seeds. And, umm, like a dumbass, I planted them, not knowing there was a problem, a woman in New Mexico said in a voicemail left with the states department of agriculture in late July. And now, Ive been battling this for a couple weeks. Now, where I planted them, and I remember where I planted them, everything thats in the garden where I planted them are having a hard time and are starting to die
I really dont know what to do at this point, so could somebody call me back and give me a little bit of direction about this? I know Im a dumbass.
Weird.
Plants are dying in some parts of my yard without any help from China.
I blame Autumn.

I love to point at this tree and ask people the name. I yet to have anyone know the name or where it came from. They are all over Central Virginia.
What is the Tree of Heaven?
The Tree of Heaven (Ailanthus altissima) is a rapidly growing deciduous tree native to China that has become a widespread invasive species across North America.
Known by a number of names including stinking sumac, Chinese sumac, varnish tree and stink tree, the plant releases a strong, offensive smell, particularly from its flowers.
The Tree of Heaven was brought from China to the United States in the late 1700s as a horticultural specimen and shade tree. Its ease of establishment, rapid growth and absence of insect or disease problems made it popular when planning urban landscaping.
These same traits have led it to spread aggressively throughout the United States, crowding out native plants wherever it establishes itself.

One had a squash looking plant and the others were never really described, except one set of seeds that turned green and molded.

Why would you do that? A mysterious package arrives in the mail and you even open it?
I might, open it, I mean, but I wouldn’t plant the seeds.
