The effort showcased an impressive list of black speakers in prominent roles vouching for President Trump and slamming Joe Biden and the Dems.
Kim Klacik, a dynamic young Republican woman running for the late Elijah Cummings seat in Baltimore, set the tone by declaring: The Democrats have controlled my city, Charm City, for over 50 years and they have run this beautiful place into the ground.
Abandoned buildings, liquor stores on every corner, drug addicts and guns on the street that is now the norm in many neighborhoods.
Herschel Walker, the football great, added his personal experience after what he called a 37-year friendship with Trump. I take it as a personal insult that people would think I would have a 37-year friendship with a racist. Growing up in the Deep South, I have seen racism up close. I know what it is. And it isnt Donald Trump.
Sen. Tim Scott, from South Carolina, provided a powerful finish by telling his life story. His grandfather had been forced to leave school in the third grade to pick cotton, but lived long enough to see Scott become the first black American elected to both the House and the Senate. Our family went from cotton to Congress in one lifetime, he said.
We wont know for some time how well the message is received, and much will depend on the remainder of the convention, especially how effective the president is with this Thursday acceptance speech.
Still, the first night was fast-paced, upbeat and rah-rah-rah. Sort of like the man in the Oval Office himself.

It was great to see that man black speakers. You can tell how much it hurt the media that they couldn’t point out how white it was. I hope it continues. Just keep pushing, it was a good showing and should help to broaden support.
Back in the day, Condoleeza Rice was about the only black person that stood out among the speakers.
If Trump wins he should spend four years building a new Party.. The old GOP is worthless
He is the only one who is trying to get blacks off the plantation...the GOP never even tried..
It will take thirty years to fix this country...Trump needs to find a great young leader for 2024..
But what about “Morning Joe”, telling us that “cranks and misfits” were at the GOP convention????
I don’t expect the MSM to touch this. They are still operating under that defunct mantra, “if we don’t report it, it didn’t happen.”
But they no longer control the vernacular.
I predict Kim Klacik has quite a political future ahead of her. She seems like a dynamic speaker. She may not win this race for Congress as a Republican in a largely Democrat district, but, she seems like the type who will be in our national political future somewhere.
It’s not about “wooing black voters.” It’s about explaining to all Americans, especially the ones who don’t traditionally vote Republican, that the Republican vision can improve their lives and make all Americans proud. Some writers just can’t help seeing the color element as primary instead of incidental.
Just consider the source...LOL

i think there is a movement among blacks toward the GOP. I liken it to air seeping out of a tire, as Hemingway once wrote, “gradually, then suddenly.” At first you don’t notice the slow seepage, then you wake up one day and the tire is flat. I think that’s how this is going, and the pitch to black America last night will only accelerate it.
And there are black speakers listed for every night too.
I’d take the highlights, make an ad out of them, and run them in basketball and football games and on “urban” stations.
Tag line: From Kim Klacik — “We want to geat ahead, not just get by.”
In 2024, I’d nominate a young black Republican. George Logan, a state senator from Derby, Connecticut. I’d love to see him run in 2022 for Senate.
