This wasn’t supposed to happen.
During this week’s Democratic National Convention, which was supposed to launch Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's ticket into the fall election with good feelings and high poll numbers, President Trump’s approval rating surged...... The Rasmussen Reports daily average for Trump, which is spread over three days, hit 51% this week — and has stayed there.
In a reaction to Rasmussen’s poll, which was looked at over 250,000 times, a commenter wrote, “It’s not uncommon for candidates to receive a bump after a national political convention. It’s just that usually the convention is their own and not their opponents.”
Rasmussen Reports responded, “Fact Check: True.”
It rose as the president was taking hits at the virtual convention from former President Barack Obama, 2016 foe Hillary Rodham Clinton, and a host of other prominent Democrats.
But it also came as he hit the campaign trail in advance of next week’s GOP convention to slam the Biden-Harris ticket and talk up his successes, including the new peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

The convention’s viewer numbers were very low compared to past conventions. On the one hand, it suggests a lack of interest in Biden, which is good. But OTOH, given the fact that Trump’s approval jumped during the convention, and assuming the convention caused the jump, perhaps it would have been better if more people were watching.
Will he be the first candidate to get a bump from both conventions?
Joe Biden and his acolytes deserve nothing less than a 50 state rout along with huge minorities in both houses. In a just and logical world the whole damned bunch of them would be stripped of their citizenship and set adrift in the Pacific Ocean.
A president with a 51% Approval Rating is in their way to victory.
The democrats keep reminding people how nasty and vile they are. Hey, I am not one that wants to take the shovel away from them. Let them keep digging.
It amazes me, for all the Democrat party’s electoral experience, they can’t see the obvious. Dem campaigning is so locked into promoting the old pols.

The Dems keep breaking the fundamental law of campaigning = don’t be boring. Doing so drives uninspired voters to not vote at all.

Besides, he’s 77 years old. The White House ain’t no rest home Joe. I hear that a lot. Many couldn’t vote for Hilary because of her obvious health impairments, she had to quit campaigning.

All this talk about platform issues, socialism, green new deal..... Most people want to answer their fears that Joe won’t survive a presidency.
I’d like to know what people are watching instead. Sports? Somehow I doubt it.
I’d like to think overall TV viewership is down and people are seeking out the truth by watching videos by independent journalists on YouTube, Gab, etc. because they sense they are being lied to.
It’ll be interesting to see the Black turnout in this election. But Democrats may have it covered by having 110% voter participation in big cities in an attempt to steal the election.
Was it the DNC convention or a re-run of Soul Train?
Only if the approval rating is in a long-standing, credible poll whose history can be correlated to Presidential elections for the past several cycles.
The Rasmussen poll is none of those.
I think this is a case of conservatives cherry picking one poll with a short history and dubious credibility that shows Trump doing well, while ignoring a large number of other polls that show him well behind in a 2-way race. We should be more savvy than that.

I don’t care what Ras or any pollster says. Both Cahaly of Trafalgar and Richard Baris of PPD stated categorically that their efforts at finding Trump voters to go on record is twice as hard this time as it was in 2016. Baris tells me of people who will start an interview saying “I’m going to vote for President Trump but I’m not going to tell a pollster that in the poll.”
I think Trump is at 53% or slightly higher. Beyond that, NO ONE on the DemoKKKrat side has as of yet come to grips with three factors:
*The massive pending shortfall in student votes to 1-1.5m.
*The massive pending shift in the black vote. It may not all go to Trump, but it will either go to Trump or stay home to the tune of 3-4m shift from 2016. This is unheard of and is going to reshape politics like the 1936 election did.
*The recent court decision that denied voting to 1m FL felons. DemoKKKrats were counting on this.
This is in theory a shift of more than 5 million votes that will NOT be on the D side, and up to 3m who will be in Trump’s column.

TRADITIONALLY, the other party goes dormant during convention week.
President Trump is anything but conventional. He stayed in the spotlight and on-message the entire week.
About one week before the commencing of the Democrat Party Convention, I posted on this site, that IMHO...the Democrat Party Convention would be DOA (Dead-On-Arrival) politically, and so would their POTUS candidate, Joe Biden & his weak, bad, choice for his VP partner, Kamala Harris.
As the first day TV numbers came in at a paltry 18,000,000, l knew this gig was going down the drain. The Scum & Vermin of the fake news media, including Chris Wallace and Dana Perino (FNC) fawned all over Joe Biden....who in fact led a failed convention, gave a taped, earlier speech and a convention that ended not giving him one point of positive bump.
As the Trump convention gets underway next week we shall see how Trump fares. IMHO...I believe the Trump TV viewers, etc, will best the Bad Biden TV numbers and Trump will at least have a positive week, maybe great week. The Fake News Media will all that it can to hurt the Trump parade, but...I think the media is no longer heeded by millions of American voters. We shall soon see how well Trump & company fare as compared to the massive Democrat Party Convention total failure!!! I predicted the Dems would fail and they did, royally!!!
The Democrats think everyone thinks like them so they double down on stupid. Riots are not a good idea.ripping up great speeches not good idea. Showing off a refrigerator full of ice cream =bad.beatting up elderly people very bad.Race baiting and pushing identity candidates are bad ideas. Hispanics don’t want to work hard and go to the back of the line.schools need to open. But the Democrats have to stop trying to play defense on lost elections.Bush Gore is over. Move on.
Is that enough to overcome fraudulent mail in ballots?
Are you old enough to remember what happened in ‘16?
Do you remember what the polls said and what his approval numbers were during that campaign?
All of a sudden the polls showing him losing are going to be accurate?
None of these polls are picking up his surge in battleground states, nor his much improved approval ratings among black voters. They do not account for the “shy” trump voter or the voter who says “I’m for Biden!” who then secretly votes Trump.
Most of these polls are—I believe—rigged to pump up the Biden crowd to make him look like a winner. Does he look like a winner? Any more than Bob Dole looked like one?
At least Soul Train was entertaining.
