DNC removes measure calling for end of fossil fuel subsidies from platform
The Hill ^ | 08 19 2020 | Rachel Frazin

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has quietly removed a portion of its climate platform saying that it wants to end subsidies to fossil fuel companies, HuffPost reported.

Party officials added an amendment which said that “Democrats support eliminating tax breaks and subsidies for fossil fuels, and will fight to defend and extend tax incentives for energy efficiency and clean energy,” to a group of provisions that were approved together, according to the news outlet.

However, that language does not appear in the final version of the party’s platform.

A DNC spokesperson told HuffPost in a statement that the amendment was “incorrectly included” and removed “after the error was discovered.”

DNC spokespeople didn’t immediately respond to The Hill’s requests for comment.

Although the party has decided to not endorse ending fossil fuel subsidies, it is a position that its nominee former Vice President Joe Biden has endorsed.

“The Biden plan will be paid for by reversing the excesses of the Trump tax cuts for corporations, reducing incentives for tax havens, evasion, and outsourcing, ensuring corporations pay their fair share, closing other loopholes in our tax code that reward wealth not work, and ending subsidies for fossil fuels,” his climate plan says.

Ocasio Cortez will have a temper tantrum. What about the commitment to the Green New Deal and all that?

Ok. How about ending subsidies for ILLEGAL aliens and enforcing the rule of law by arresting ILLEGAL aliens in sanctuary cities.

Could be a diss of Joe &/or could be indicative of the contempt for AOC.

Also, perhaps they finally woke up to ‘no one cares about so-called Global Warming’ as the world prepares for a cool down.

None of this inside baseball platform stuff really matters. Why? Because dems lie and don’t follow rules anyway.

Once they have the Presidency and Congress - if that happens - they will push a radical leftist agenda and attempt to regulate and tax fossil fuels and reduce demand through added misery.

”… has quietly removed [??? emphasis added] a portion of its climate platform saying that it wants to end subsidies to fossil fuel companies,"

Was this platform maneuver deliberate to try to leave voters with the impression that Democrats want to end subsidies to fossil fuel companies?

Send "Orange Man Bad" federal and state government desperate Democrats and RINOs home in November!

Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping SARS-CoV-2 will effectively give fast-working Trump a "third term" in office imo.

Or they realized there is no “fossil fuel subsidy”.

It’s a BS talking point.

What it refers to is the ability to depreciate the drilling cost of an oil well over one year, just like any other kind of equipment.

The Democrats want oilfield equipment to be treated like real estate and depreciated over decades, despite most of the income (and costs) coming in the first year.

ROTFLOL....the DNC musta got a new "which way is the political wind blowing" gauge.

Calling for the end of fossil fuel subsidies broke the needle on the DNC's old "which way is the political wind blowing" gauge.

(SNX) Just a coincidence......this is one of commie AOC's Green Deal demands........and she spoke at the convention just last night.

Earlier DNC's Xochitl Hinojosa was forced to insist: "Dems do not support defunding the police.”

“Uh oh. Someone got on the phone and reminded them who’s boss.”

No, it’s more a case of the rats hiding their intent just before the election as usual. Trump has made us energy independent and he did it without killing millions of birds in wind farms as if it is even possible.

There are no subsidies and this industry pays a substantial amount of its profits in taxes - much more so than most other industries.
