Is twitter really that relevant? I know some political junkies who follow it, but most of my friend and family don’t go there, aren’t interested

Unfortunately, yes. Twitter (sewer though it is) is now the new "Public Square" for the younger generations ... til something else, with an even shorter attention span, replaces it.

I'll say something that many older generations have repeatedly said (except that this time it may actually be correct):

WE ARE DOOMED. ;>)

I have family that swear by their connections to social media, and they have let it become their only source for life. I view it as an imitation of life, and a poor one at that. I have no need for liberal interruption and/or its attempted influence into Real life. Other’s mileage may vary, but in my family, it seems, the most connected ones are the most liberally messed up people I know. If a letter, telephone call, or an email isn’t sufficient, then the information isn’t that important.
