President Donald Trump on Monday abruptly left a press conference after what appeared to be a Secret Service agent approached the podium and spoke into his ear.
“Excuse me?” Trump said as the press conference was interrupted.
The president left the podium and the briefing doors were locked after he exited.
After speaking quietly with the Secret Service, the president returned to the briefing room after a few minutes to inform them that there was a shooting of an armed suspect outside the White House.
“There was an actual shooting, someone has been taken to the hospital … seems like the person was shot by Secret Service,” Trump said. He also confirmed that the suspect was armed.
He thanked Secret Service for acting quickly to protect the area.
“I feel very safe with Secret Service … they are the best of the best,” Trump said.
The president said that Secret Service would brief reporters about the shooting after the press conference.
“You were surprised. I was surprised also. I think it’s probably pretty unusual,” Trump said.
When a reporter asked the president if he was “rattled,” Trump replied, “I don’t know, do I seem rattled?”
He noted that the world was always a “dangerous place” but again thanked Secret Service for protecting him.
When a reporter asked him why he returned, Trump replied, “Well I didn’t even think about not coming back.”
The Secret Service confirmed the shooting on Twitter.
The Secret Service can confirm there has been an officer involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. Law enforcement officials are on the scene. More information to follow.

Loved it when President Trump returned to podium and was asked, “were you rattled?”

Bullsh_t..he didn’t leave “abruptly”, he wasn’t “rushed” from the room. I was watching it...Secret Service came in, quietly asked for POTUS attention, quick conversation and Trump calmly walked out. He was back in 10 min or less.
Yup...Abruptly leaving would be something like being hurriedly thrown on the floor of a Scooby van and speeding off.

I grew up near the town where Jesse was killed, I was in the house where they say it happened. It’s at the Pattee Hall Museum. What I’ve read and heard say, Jesse was a psychotic sob. Not stupid just nuts. I don’t remember any time he ever brazenly challenged Union soldiers without backup. The Northfield robbery issue was the boys were recognized and farmers can shoot too. Then he trusted friends too much and the Missouri Governor bought them. Like I say he was a psychopath (IMO) but he wasn’t stupid most of the time. Waving guns around the White House is stupid.
Antifa recently declared they would attack The White House. There were several articles posted here reporting that. How in God’s name do these little punks get away with the crap they do?

Getting shot by the secret service doesn’t sound like getting away with it. I’m 68 and we cranky old farts have no patience. It’s coming just lock and load and wait for it.
Rioting, looting, burning, attacking the police. Now the little punks are threatening to assault American citizens in their homes. Where the hell is all the law enforcement we pay taxes for? I've never witnessed anything like this in America. This is insane.
