Potential cross-reactivity between MMR vaccinations and COVID-19

...but along the way some trends have become noteworthy. For instance, the SARS-CoV-2 virus has affected some groups worse than others and this necessitates further investigation as to why. I was made aware of research being done by Dr. Larry Tilley, DVM, a world-renowned expert in veterinary medicine research, Dr. William Baumgartl, MD, MSME, director of Stem Cell Therapies at Nevada Spine Center, and Jeffrey Gold, a computer science and data analyst. Their paper hypothesizes the reason for higher rates of morbidity and mortality in older versus younger patients suffering from COVID-19.

They note other trends as well. Women seem to be statistically less likely to die from the disease than men. Pacific Islanders and Asian cultures appear less impacted by the virus and appear to have a higher resistance. They cite, Japan, a country of over 126 million, reported 16,325 cases with less than 800 deaths. Mongolia, a nation of 5 million, has only 42 confirmed cases and zero deaths. Whereas Italy, France, Germany, and Spain have had a much higher incidence in morbidity and mortality.

Their research found a possible link in protection against COVID-19 between individuals that received measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccinations and those who did not. They found that the younger population - those under 50 - were the first group to be vaccinated with one dose of MMR vaccine between 1971-1978. From 1979 forward, there were generally two vaccination doses given. Also, women contemplating pregnancy tended to receive additional MMR boosters. Observation of this relationship was also reported in a University of Cambridge study, which reported a 29 percent commonality between the spike proteins of rubella and the SARS-CoV-2 virus, critical for viral penetration of target cells, suggesting that the MMR vaccine may protect against COVID-19.

This is a most interesting hypothesis that can explain a few of the Covid19 mysteries.

What about people who haven’t had MMR vaccination, but are old enough to have had Mumps and Measles, and (maybe) Rubella? Those who have had the disease would have both antibodies and T-cell memory, perhaps to a greater degree than the vaccinated.

In my case, “Two out of three ain’t bad”, I hope.

Then would we have to accept the idea that more females are vaccinated than males? Not likely.

We’ve been told that kids don’t get Covid as severe or as often because of low levels of ACE-2 receptors.

Couldn’t it vary in adults?

Read the article. Women are likely to receive MMR vaccines while pregnant. Most men are unlikely to get pregnant.

Ted S. Yoho, DVM, represents Florida’s 3rd District.

He should stick to politics and treating animals.

Another interesting statistical quirk: Emergency room MDs have reported plunging rates of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or “crib death”). They theorize that since the beginning of our state of national hysteria, parents haven’t been taking their babies for their usual panoply of infant vaccines. In other words, the current vert aggressive infant vaccine schedule plays a role in crib death. It’ll be interesting to see if autism also drops off for this cohort of newborns . . . not that it would be reported in the mainstream media.

Not according to some Democrats. They say men can get pregnant and need free abortions.:)

These so called researchers are stretching. Correlation is not causation

Look at the comorbidities........obesity, diabetes, heart disease. Sadly this describes the black community all to well. Their diets are lousy ( for a myriad of reasons). Their tendency to see a doctor is less than other communities. By the time they seek help they are already very sick.

Most of us oldsters already had all three diseases and have antibodies (just like the vaccine gives)

This is not so far fetched as history has demonstrated.

The British doctor Edward Jenner demonstrated that an infection with the relatively mild cowpox virus conferred immunity against the deadly smallpox virus. Cowpox served as a natural vaccine until the modern smallpox vaccine emerged in the 19th century.

Dr. Jenner basically stumbled upon this inoculation innovation by observing that milk maids didn't come down with smallpox. This would be the sort of discovery which might show that Dr. Fauci is not the virologist that many take him for.

Not only likely, but fact. Women need the immunization for rubella when pregnant.

Women seem to be statistically less likely to die from the disease than men.

Or maybe not even get the virus or at a very low level.

I have previously posted that I probably had the virus from just before ThanksGiving to just past Christmas.

One of my sons and a grandson probably had the virus. The 19 year old grandson had the least problems. Our 50 year old son,who is never sick had the crud for 2+ weeks with low grade fever, no sense of smell and not hungry, with rare headaches.

The people in our Church, who got the crud were mainly men.

Later we found out that relatives in the Mid West and South West with no contact with their relatives on the West Coast, (us), again the males of all ages 20+ got most of the crud and had it worse than women.

One of our female retired RNs said it was just Mother Nature cleaning out the weaker sex, guys!
