So we’re screwed either way. Still we have to vote for somebody. Deal with it.

Well, golly, I lived in Massachusetts and Illinois before I moved to Tennessee. Didn’t make me a liberal (wasn’t one before and certainly wasn’t one after); made me not want to live in Massachusetts or Illinois.

I hope this proves to be a win for Trump - he's got a track record now of backing people who then betray him.

Explain, I’m genuinely curious.

Mentioned in various places elsewhere, but here is a summary: Those who know both say that Sethi is more conservative. Those who have met both have been more impressed with Sethi than Hagerty. Hagerty thought that he had it in the bag until late, and didn’t show up at any events, whereas Sethi did. Hagerty finally responded with a scorched earth, dishonest and disingenuous campaign blitz. For example, Hagerty emphasized that Sethi helped Nancy Pelosi win the House by donating to the liberal group Act Blue. The truth is that twelve years ago Sethi’s wife gave $50 to a friend of a friend who was running for congress. Hagerty used things like this to cover up that he gave thousands of dollars to Democrats and GOP-e types (vid. Al Gore, Mitt Romney, etc.). Other examples could be given. After Hagerty refused to debate, he made scurrilous and untruthful charges late that left Sethi little time to respond. The so-called “nastiest Republican primary in the country” was due to Hagerty, not Sethi. Hagerty left a stench—a strong stench.

I still hope that Hagerty turns out to be a good Senator, but I have serious, serious doubts about it, and I have come to strongly question his character. Time will tell.

Did you run for the U.S. Senate after you moved to Tennessee? :-)

“Hagerty is great pals with Mittens Romney.”

That’s scary right there. Did Romney campaign for him?

Never Trumper/Romney loving Hagerty pulled the wool over his eyes. Not really a win.

I think he meant Bill Frist. Worked at Mass General.

Sethi’s campaign staff is chock full of rabid never Trumpers. That is enough reason for me to be highly suspicious of the fella.
Show me your friends and I’ll show you your character as they say.

Those aren’t friends. Those are employees. And we know who Hagerty’s “friends” are.

They'll probably join Steve Schmidt and the rest of the never Trumpers in the Lincoln Project. That's where they belong anyways.

I thought I remember hearing of stuff like this, and that people were afraid that Hagerty would be a Romneyite. If that’s true, why would Trump even support him? Sounds like Sethi got screwed by the GOPe political machine.
