Most Americans Are Scared Stiff To Talk Politics. Why?

Does it feel like you’re walking on eggshells lately when talking about politics? You’re not alone. A new national survey of 2,000 Americans I conducted at the Cato Institute finds that 62 percent of Americans say the political climate these days prevents them from saying what they believe because others might find it offensive. This share is up from 58 percent in 2017.

Notably, self-censorship is not a partisan issue. Majorities of Democrats (52 percent), Independents (59 percent), and Republicans (77 percent) all agree they have political views they are afraid to share.

Same here. Had a Trump yard sign in 2016 & didn’t even think twice about it. It’s amazing how much the world has changed in only 4 years.

There’s a house near my neighborhood that had a huge Trump banner hanging on the back of their house since around January - I could see it from the road, and it always made me smile. They took it down a few days after the riots started. I can’t say that I blame them, but it makes me sad every time I drive past their house now.

The problem is how many companies demand to know as part of “culture fit” and “diversity, equity and inclusion”.

I’ve sat in corporate seminars where they demanded that everyone identify their race, their faith, their sexual orientation, their political views.

It is even more invasive when they do they privilege tests. “Step back if you were raped/sexually assaulted, step back if you were raised by a single mother.” How one was raised and personal experiences shouldn’t be related to one’s job - much less making such baggage PUBLIC to peers.

I was driving in western Pa. a few weeks ago and was thrilled to see many Trump signs. Not a single Biden sign.

"The liberties of our country, the freedoms of our civil Constitution are worth defending at all hazards; it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors. They purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood.

It will bring a mark of everlasting infamy on the present generation – enlightened as it is – if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of designing men.” (or women, thank you 19A)

Too funny Buckeye.
I have a socialist lady living a few lots down.
Her and her husband go on cruises quite often and Ive thought of putting a Trump 2020 yard sign in front of their home.
Too bad the cruising lately has ceased.
