Does it feel like you’re walking on eggshells lately when talking about politics? You’re not alone. A new national survey of 2,000 Americans I conducted at the Cato Institute finds that 62 percent of Americans say the political climate these days prevents them from saying what they believe because others might find it offensive. This share is up from 58 percent in 2017.
Notably, self-censorship is not a partisan issue. Majorities of Democrats (52 percent), Independents (59 percent), and Republicans (77 percent) all agree they have political views they are afraid to share.

Excellent point. It’s not like you’re going to change any minds or even have a useful dialogue with them. They’ve totally, utterly consumed the Kool-Aid.

The 2016 election turned some of my former friends and acquaintances into raving, TDS-suffering lunatics. The very mention of Trump’s name elicits torrents of rage and anger. So I’m very cautious about discussing anything political.
The other day, my boyfriend wasn’t as cautious when talking to my next door neighbor. The predictable reaction ensued, and I had to drag him back into the house.
Well i’m not . In my State i can carry concealed and i have for 37 years. Never needed to unholster my sidearm . I practice frequently and i’m always alert to my surroundings
That being said, i love Donald Trump as you can tell by my 30” x 90” banner on my barn. “F” those commies!!!! Come and get some!
I think using the term “find it offensive” disguises the real reason which is “might attack them”. And the word attack is used in the literal sense as well as the more abstract and figurative sense.
There are reports that someone in Seattle put Trump stickers on cars belonging to the protesters and they proceeded to be destroyed by fellow protesters.
I doubt if any democrats are really afraid to talk politics, because they have the backing of the schools, the churches, the newspapers, the networks, big tech, essentially every power center in the country. Only moderate democrats (if they still exist) are afraid to speak out. The same for Independents, if they lean democrat they’ll feel comfortable speaking out, if they lean repubiican, not so much.
Perhaps you want to eat out? Any number of incidents, almost all LEFT attacking (can’t think of one that goes the other way!) Open air eating just gives the attackers more room to spit!

I just refuse to talk to liberals about anything. Makes things easier. If you have liberals at work, only talk about work when they approach you. Don’t approach them at all unless it’s work related.
