One of the country's leading gun makers saw earnings triple as gun sales once again shattered previous records for the month of July.
July 2020 saw an estimated 1,795,602 gun salesa new record and an increase of 133 percent over July 2019, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis of FBI data. July is the fifth consecutive month to set a gun-sales record. Chris Killoy, chief executive officer of Sturm, Ruger & Company, said the current spike in sales is unlike anything he has ever seen. The buying spree shows no signs of slowing down and heavy demand will "sustain itself" into the fall, Killoy predicted.
"Having been in this industry for 30 years, I saw the surge in 1994 before the assault weapons ban took place," Killoy told investors on Thursday. "This is probably the strongest level of demand that I've seen. One of the most significant differences is how it has impacted all levels of the channel and the impact on inventory at all levels."
The spike in FBI background checks and coinciding earnings at the gun-industry giant indicate an explosion of new gun ownership as Americans deal with the coronavirus outbreak and national unrest. FBI background checks indicate 2020 has now seen at least 10 million guns soldmany to first-time buyers and minorities.
Sturm, Ruger & Company announced in its quarterly earnings call on Thursday that net sales had moved from $210,367,000 in the first six months of 2019 to $253,903,000 during the same period in 2020. That equated to diluted earnings per share of $1.06 in 2020 compared with $.36 in 2019a threefold increase.

PING!
BANG!
I was lucky to find a shotgun online - a Silver Eagle 122.
Smith & Wesson M&P 15? Nope.
Sig Sauer P365 SAS? Nope.
Anything called Glock? Nope.
And don’t even get me started on ammo - there’s none to be had.
And also the Democrats, Antifa, BLM, DefundThePolice, broken supply chains, RINOs (Hogan et al.), and so on.
There is no Ammo anywhere - went to Cabela’s on Sunday - wiped out.
No .45 - 38 Spl - 357 Mag - 9MM or .223. No 00 Buck or #4 shotgun shells.
My local gun store has orders in with all of his suppliers for any Ammo - any brand, even the Bosnian crap. He cannot get a delivery date. If you see any you can use - buy it!
The ranges will be empty if we can’t get Ammo.
You should always have a few cases of each caliber you shoot on the shelf at all times. .22, 9mm, .45 ACP, 5.56, 12 ga.
“And dont even get me started on ammo - theres none to be had.”
I disagree my friend. At leastcwhere I am Acadamy sports is receiving 3 shipments a week. It goes fast and is a bit more expensive than usual but 9mm, .45, .223 or 5.56 is available.
Sure there are. You just don’t know where to look.

Bud’s gun shop just e-mailed said my ammo order is on the way. About 2wks.
Blue Collar Reloading sent my ammo in 5 days. AND AND sent me a personal e-mail thanking me for my business!!! Wow.
Thanks. I lurk and learn.
I think that the past 2 months of gun sales are an indicator of voting patterns. We will see.
Woo-Hoo!
(I helped)
I walked into a gun store yesterday and bought a new Glock 43, 9mm, and they included a box of ammo.
They are allocated to sell first to LE, military and, as I found out when I asked, RETIRED MILITARY, qualify.
At a much reduced price too! Sweet!
As retired military, you should be able to CCW wherever you are in the country, due to a Bush (II) era law, IIRC. Even sweeter!*
*Look it up to be sure, though.
I think I'm pretty well stocked up for the SHTF in November when the communist bastards lose and pitch their hissy fits across the country.
Correction: my other HnK’s are 9mm and .40acp’s.
When I bought my S&W.22 LR rifle (yes, I will go back for a better caliber, eventually), I got a 500-count box of ammo to go with. When I took my gun safety training, I had the lady teaching me visually inspect the ammo to make sure it was safe before I loaded and fired the weapon; she was fine with it.
