An illegal immigrant succumbed this weekend to injuries from a fall from the border wall in Arizona, federal authorities said Sunday.
Agents found the 33-year-old Mexican man in an open field near Yuma on July 26, and he told them hed fallen from the wall.
The agents gave first aid and summoned the local rescue squad, which took the man to the Yuma Regional Medical Center.

- (Mexican) Woman dies after falling from (18 Foot) border fence near Sunland Park, NM (Western suburb of El Paso) (8 July). Found unresponsive, her head bleeding, less than 20 feet north of the border wall.
Two Points:
1. This shows how tough of a physical obstacle these new barriers are. Picking up bodies near the base of the old border barrier was not really much of a thing. It is now becoming a thing. The new normal.
2. Word of these incidents is going to get around back through the Latin American media and culture. Deterrence is going to develop.
First there is this sudden bloom of new bollards spreading along the Border this Summer and Fall, like mushrooms after the rain. Then there will accumulate these new cases of death and crippling, as the existing flow of illegals encounters the new Super Barrier, and gives it a try. Eventually, conventional wisdom will grow of how dangerous it is to attempt climbing these bollards. We should post blunt warning signs: "Falls Kill!" with a mangled stick figure lying in front of a crying child stick figure.
This process will lag several months behind the new bollards being set into place. While the supporting components of the Wall System - finished high speed road, stadium lighting, Day/Night cameras, multiple alarms and sensor systems, concertina emplacement - get activated over the following months, this process of tragic outcomes becoming the local poster children for deterrence will also be occurring.
I'm guessing that for a good six months after the bollards go in somewhere, the initial big improvement in operational control will gradually get even better, due to these other effects.
The end state is going to be an effectively controlled border, where this new Wall System goes in.
We are really just starting to see the flow start crashing on the new Wall, but every month from here on out, the effects are going to intensify.
wall seems to be working.
good.
So? Hope it sends a strong message to others to stop trying.
and they said walls don’t work
Ditto!
Wait a minute... we’re paying these criminals’ hospital bills.
The Dems in Congress will scream the wall is killing people, it must be removed.

"Mexican Criminal dies after fall from border wall in Arizona"
There. Fixed.
Unfortunately, some people are going to have to learn the hard way, not to climb our fences. These incidents are concentrated in areas of recent construction - especially the two from this last weekend.
After an initial flush in the first few months, or maybe a year or two, the rate of these incidents will decline, as people get deterred, and as Border Patrol continues to strengthen that segment, incrementally finishing all the supporting components of the comprehensive Wall System package.
Just the addition of concertina on top of the bollards will keep most people from trying them.

Amen.
New sign: “Walls don’t kill; Falls do”.
Rule of thumb in drops from height. Highly dependent on what you land on of course. 1 story up usually survivable. 2 stories up you might survive but with injuries. 3 stories up no chance unless you have a very soft landing surface.
Would also help if we shot them at the top.
"they" being people who pay a LOT to live behind walls in gated communities....
The average height of a fatal fall is 10 feet.
Yep - a trauma alert in the hospital a week.
Likely over 6 figures.
Possibly in a hospital needing COVID beds, who knows.
One can die from falling over just standing so yeah that can skew the average.
Yes, plus agents have to guard them in the hospital.
