That’s the way they teach it.

Some years ago, the Obama feds sued our local school district, which unfortunately agreed to a “consent decree.” Under this consent decree, as the supervising judge interprets it, punishment gets apportioned according to race. The racial demographics aren’t those of the student population but those of the entire district. Persons of certain racial groupings tend disproportionately to choose alternatives to the public district schools, so their quota of punishment gets inflicted on those members of their racial grouping still stuck in public school.

As a result, members of the same certain racial groups as those who most commonly engage in the worst misbehavior know that they can get away with almost any relatively minor misbehavior every day, while members of other racial groups without members who engage in such terrible behavior get severe punishments for barely perceptible trivial faults. Teachers who try to punish hideously bad behavior get denounced as evil-hearted ne’er-do-wells whose insidious racism gets exposed in a high-trauma environment. These teachers, who prefer a less-than-high-trauma workplace with some even marginally effective disciplinary tools, tend to seek other opportunities elsewhere.

I once thought that people devised these schemes to teach children through experience how such stupidity malfunctions in a dystopic, prison-like social environment. But now, I consider that racial apportionment of punishment soon will come to society at large. So, when the police arrest a criminal, they also will arrest random members of other racial demographics, who will complete jail experiences, post bail, pay fines, and serve prison sentences alongside the criminal to maintain proper racial balance at all levels of the judiciary and prison systems.

Meanwhile, back at public school, yes, more insanity will come soon on account of kowtowing to the Black Lives Matter partisan racist terrorist organization. That assumes that public schools ever reopen their doors to actual schoolchildren, a once uncontroversial prospect that with each passing month seemingly less likely ever will occur. In the interim, parent-directed home education is mandatory for all children to fulfill the compulsory education requirement in the absence of functional public schools and legally operating private schools.

And so the question is: What is DeVos doing? Anything?

I could understand staying under the radar to avoid the media and their prying eyes and ears ready to denounce her if she tries to dismantle the "progressive" school agenda.

Also, it's what the Dems do to keep conservatives in the dark about what's really going on...

I did K-12 long before "new" math or off the wall electives. It was a core curriculum teaching the fundamentals of the arts and sciences with very few electives. We were taught history and government.

Looks like I got a better education in that little Kansas school district than kids are getting in the rich kid suburban districts today.
