My advice is to avoid evacuation centers like the plague (literally). Get on the phone now and contact friends/relatives in safe zones and coordinate with them. Book hotel/motel reservations in safe zones, or find a non-red cross dominated church organized center.
You go to those centers, you lose most of your rights and you are at their whim.

I think that there is a lesson that was learned about going to a FEMA Center,
during "Hurricane Katrina" and living in the Houston Dome Arena.
Good call about contacting known family resources!
And ask them what you should bring; you will find them much more accommodating if you are contributing to the groups success.
But show up with masks and sanitizer anyway, as you will probably need them in order to go into any store or hotel after the crisis passes.
