Hard to argue with that. Barr had to know that very powerful people wanted Epstein dead. Barr did not have Epstein in custody. New York City did.
I thought the idea of refusing bail to Epstein was a ploy to control him by the corrupt New York City political machine, at the time.
Barr had nothing to hang a hat on to protect Epstein.
President Trump did his best by suggesting that it was important to guard Epstein.

Part of leadership is trusting the folks under you. He has bigger fish to fry than personally intervening in specific criminals housing. Its easy in hindsight to criticize the obvious hit job. What is not clear is why any and all of the officers involved were not punished...

Barr has long been an apologist for the police state so I wasn't really too terribly surprised at Epstein's "suicide".
