Hard to argue with that. Barr had to know that very powerful people wanted Epstein dead.

Barr did not have Epstein in custody. New York City did.

I thought the idea of refusing bail to Epstein was a ploy to control him by the corrupt New York City political machine, at the time.

Barr had nothing to hang a hat on to protect Epstein.

President Trump did his best by suggesting that it was important to guard Epstein.

“Barr did not have Epstein in custody. New York City did.”

Jeffrey Epstein died in the Metropolitan Correction Center in New York City. It is a correctional center run by the Federal Bureau of Prisons which is an agency of the United States Department of Justice. William Barr at the time was the Attorney General of the United States. The Attorney General oversees the Department of Justice and the agencies within the department. Hence, Barr was ultimately responsible for the administration of the prison where Jeffrey Epstein was housed.

Certainly Barr was not directly overseeing the daily operation of the facility. That responsibility was delegated. However, given the special circumstances surrounding Epstein, and the fact Epstein had been harmed while incarcerated (beaten up or committed suicide) at that institution, it is surprising Barr did not instruct those responsible for the administration of this federal facility to take extraordinary measures to monitor and protect Epstein from foul play or another “suicide” attempt. Why?
