The divide between President Trump and local leaders in places where he has deployed federal agents is widening. This week, 15 mayors asked Trump to withdraw federal forces from their cities, citing “fundamental constitutional protections.” Former Pennsylvania governor Tom Ridge, first secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, joins Judy Woodruff to discuss why he disavows Trump's action.

Tom Ridge: Another George W Bush crony.

All you freepers who treated George W Bush as a deity, who flamed anyone who criticized him, and who supported his signature accomplishment - the destruction of Iraq with half a million dead and the wipe-out of the Christian community in that country - maybe it's time for some penance????

Bush Republicans like Tom Ridge believe the purpose of the US military is to invade and remake foreign countries, not to protect the people here at home.

If the GOP reverts to Bushism after Trump is gone, I'm going third party for sure.

An invasion of sanity. Libs can’t stand it. Give us looting, rioting, arson and the occasional rapes/murders but ANYTHING but Trump looking good with this law and order nonsense.

Obama used to send groups of DOJ activists into cities that had racial troubles, the purpose of which was to pour gasoline on the fire.

Never forget: Tom Ridge’s boss, George W Bush, DIDN’T “keep us safe”. That little thing called 9-11 happened on his watch. Nine months in.

Et tu, Brutus

So Governor, what would Bush43 have done to restore order and protect the safety of citizens under siege by violent anarchists? No less During a pandemic that has trapped children and parents in their homes in these cities, where thugs have taken advantage of overwhelmed police to shoot HUNDREDS of innocents.

His old man Bush41 sent military troops to the ‘92 riots in LA and that was just one city.

No it’s not.

He’s a moron.

Trump is defending what the DEMOCRAT MAYORS and DEMOCRAT GOVERNORS have abdicated their responsibility - to defend their people.

The only invasion here is by the communist forces that Tom Ridge supports. He should STFU and go away.

Well said.
The biggest mistake Reagan ever made was making HW, a man that despised Reagan’s agenda and philosophy his VP. That paved the way for W. and his revenge agenda against Iraq for targeting his father for assassination.
In the aftermath of 9/11 Afghanistan was a legitimate target. But, Saudi Arabia would have also been a legitimate target. W, facilitated the escape from the USA of a great many Saudi’s.
When all aircraft were ordered grounded in the USA aircraft evacuating Saudi’s from this country was made an exception by W.

The invasion was by Mexicans and Central Americans and it happened on his watch with his full knowledge and encouragement.

I watched the interview.

Ridge really doesn't say anything.

How old is he? And why is one of his eyes falling off the side of his face?

So Tom Ridge thinks we have an obligation to watch our federal buildings burn? If the Mayors and Police Chiefs decide they don’t want to enforce the law, then the mob rules. Federal Court Houses and Federal Buildings must be abandoned, looted and burned and we aren’t allowed to stop it?

How about NO? How about FU traitor Ridge?
