A Chinese researcher who took refuge from U.S. authorities at China’s consulate in San Francisco is now in American custody and is expected to appear in court on Friday, a senior U.S. Justice Department official said.

Glad to see someone other than me has not forgotten. That said, remember way back when it was discovered the Chinese were hired to run the Panama Canal? Short range missiles capable of hitting the US in less than 5 minutes was discovered in both sides of the canal free trade zones....last I checked with my ex-pat buddies living in Panama there were over 300,000 Chinese employed and living in Panama running the canal, wonder how many are PLA employees? I hope the zones have been regularly checked since then.

I don’t think he was actually thinking about closing more consulates. He was simply replying to a reporter’s question.

I can’t forget. In the 90s, I knew where the warehouse was in LA that was selling illegally smuggled sanitized AKs for $50-250 (depending on year) - so did a lot of kids that were in gangs or knew gangmembers. The LAPD finally broke it up and closed it down in the early 2000s. It was gone for a while, but I was told by friends still in the area that it reopened in another warehouse in the late 2000s.
