Surgeon General Jerome Adams begged Fox News' audience on Monday to wear face masks to help contain the spread of the coronavirus and to avoid thinking of the health measure as a violation of their rights.
Adams stressed that President Donald Trump has recently said he supports mask-wearing, despite his refusal to implement a federal mask mandate.
"I'm pleading with your viewers, I'm begging you, please understand that we are not trying to take away your freedoms when we say wear a face covering," Adams said during a "Fox and Friends" interview.
He went on, "We are not trying to take away your ability to go out when we say keep restaurant capacity under 50%. We are saying if we do these things, we can actually open and stay open. We can get back to school, to worship, to jobs. We can do this."

The funny thing is that they will credit mask wearing with the arrival of the inevitable peak and subsequent decline in new “cases” that the approach of herd immunity will bring. They’ll never admit that it all would have arrived with or without the masks.
For corn sake... no one has said REAL (N95/respirator) masks do not offer protection.

I’m not against masks per se, but I am very curious as to when (or if) the experts will commit to saying that there is a point where masks are no longer necessary for the general public. Tell me when the science says a football stadium filled with 60,000 fans can be “safe” in their eyes and how much mask action gets us there.
I’d bet that the difference between everyone wearing a mask, locking everyone down and waiting until a vaccine is fielded widely, and nobody wearing a mask and developing herd immunity is negligible, both in time and in total number of people who succumb to the Rona.
The horse has left the barn when it comes to everyone wearing a mask. Enough people won’t do it that everyone else doing it won’t make a difference in the propagation of the disease. There are “unclean” populations and “clean” populations, and the comingling of them will keep causing further infections in an unregulated manner until herd immunity is achieved or they stop comingling. The CDC should know this, they have the scientists with the big brains on epidemiology after all. They should know how human behavior accounts for disease spreading. They should be smart enough to come up with a plan to get us through this reality, rather than pleading for everyone to wear a mask.

Now as far as masks and viruses - this metaphor might be helpful:
If you think of a mask as a chain link fence, then the virus is like a FLEA. So how can a chain link fence stop a tiny flea?
Because viruses, like fleas, do not travel through the air on their own. They need a delivery "vector".
Viruses travel on droplets of water that you exhale, and each droplet may contain tens of thousands of viruses. And those droplets are many orders of magnitude larger than the virus.
So - the "chain link fence" (aka mask) is NOT there to stop the "Flea" (aka virus).
The "Chain link fence" is there to stop THE DOG that is CARRYING the Flea.
