THE son of federal judge Esther Salas has been killed and her husband critically wounded after a gunman dressed as a Fedex delivery driver ambushed them inside their home last night.
Daniel Anderl, 20, was shot and killed Sunday evening after the killer entered the house in North Brunswick, New Jersey days after Salas took on an Epstein-linked case.
There is no suggestion that the shootings are linked to any of the judge's cases.
Her husband Mark Anderl - a 63-year-old criminal defense attorney - was also shot at their home and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, the New Jersey Globe reported.
At around 9:20 pm, WNBC reported that he's in stable condition after undergoing surgery at RWJ Barnabas Health.
It's not immediately clear who was the intended target of the shooting and the suspect remains at large, according to the newspaper. MURDER AT FAMILY HOME
The terrifying assault happened at around 5pm when Mark answered the front door of the family home and was blasted several times by the gunman.
His son Daniel, a student at Catholic University in Washington DC, then came to investigate and was fatally shot "through the heart", it has been reported.
Salas, 51, was in the basement at the time of the shootings and was not injured.
Mayor of North Brunswick Francis Womack, a family friend, said the judge had received death threats in the past.
He told ABC News: "As a judge, she had threats from time to time, but everyone is saying that recently there had not been any."
The attack came days after the federal judge was assigned a case linked to pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.
According to Bloomberg, Deutsche Bank is accused of misleading investors "about anti-money-laundering deficiencies," including failing to properly monitor high-risk customers, that included Epstein.

Probably didn’t occur, but the gunman might have picked the wrong address, and hit the wrong family. A real pro would have not stopped until all members of the family were dead in the house.

Thanks. Just puzzling through WHY, if she was the target, did she not even get shot, let alone killed. Did she orchestrate the gunman herself and he shot the son too? Maybe she never told the gunman ‘just the husband’...
Maybe too much Dateline; maybe reality but since the Epstein thing was JUST handed to her (not even a ruling yet) and she’s a lib so, technically, probably safe for those not wanting epstein info out there, I think it’s more personal than judicial.
Too much Dateline. She was in the basement. You think a judge ordered a hit on her husband at their home on a Sunday 5pm with her son being home? No mother would put tneir son at risk like that.

unless he’s her stepson, not her son. someone else mentioned the kid looks like her but he looks like his father more (to me).
Everyone’s speculating as to what happened but a familial attack is alot more likely.

This will become an attack pattern as the emerging dirty civil war escalates. NEVER open your door to a stranger. Interrogate unexpected “delivery men” at a safe distance by intercom, in a place where they are at a physical disadvantage.
The innocent-looking female with the clipboard prop might have 3 male attackers lurking around the corner waiting for you to crack open your door. The pizza box from the pizza you did not order might conceal a sawed-off shotgun. Etc.
