Sen. Ted Cruz unleashed on Democrats Saturday for "facilitating and cheering" on violent protests in Portland, which he likened to cities that have experienced deadly clashes in Iraq and Lebanon.
Cruz, R-Texas, retweeted a graphic video that purports to show Antifa and Black Live Matter activists attacking a boarded-up federal courthouse in Portland overnight Friday.
"This is not Fallujah. This is not Beirut. This is America," Cruz tweeted. "And Dem politicians are facilitating & cheering them on."
Protests against systemic racism and police brutality have been a nightly feature in deeply liberal Portland since the death of Minneapolis man George Floyd while in police custody on May 25. President Trump has decried the disorder and Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf blasted the protesters as “lawless anarchists” in a visit to the city, helping make the clashes between police and demonstrators a national focus.
The administration has enlisted federal agents, including the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group and an elite U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) team based on the U.S.-Mexico border, to protect federal property. But Oregon Public Broadcasting reported this week that some agents had been driving around in unmarked vans and snatching protesters from streets not near federal property, without identifying themselves.
Tensions also escalated after an officer with the Marshals Service fired a less-lethal round at a protester’s head on July 11, critically injuring him.
The agents' actions have prompted outrage from elected officials and civil liberties groups, with Mayor Ted Wheeler demanding at a news conference Friday: “Keep your troops in your own buildings, or have them leave our city."
Democrat Gov. Kate Brown said Trump is looking for a confrontation in the hope of winning political points elsewhere and distracting from his widely panned response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Is there a point at which some threshold is crossed, so that the police union says, enough! We are in an impossible situation and too many of our lives are at risk.
I saw 18 police officers being pelted by a mob in Chicago’s Grant Park protecting a statue of Christopher Columbus. There has to be a point at which the police say, “No more. We strike.”
And Ted Cruz is not a bystander in the peanut gallery. He is a sitting United States Senator. Is he publicly calling on his GOP colleagues to use the constitutionality given power of the Senate to engage this antifa insurrection? Not as far as I have seen. Therefore, I will put whatever Cruz says in the circular file.

I sat up until 2am last night watching this shit on live stream, there were a couple of sites that had multiple streamers on the screen and it was just unbelievable what I was seeing. Portland is out of control and it might be time to declare the city under insurrection. I believe the mayor, city council and maybe even some state officials like the Governor need to be arrested and tried for sedition.
A good SCOTUS nominee during an election. Women might not vote GOP a la Clarence Thomas. Then the young looker raising 7 kids will be best. Women would see how the left treats women. If I was Linda Graham I’d compare the treatment to Chappaquidik.

The head of the NY State troopers association has demanded that NY State troopers be withdrawn from NYC, because of new regulations passed by the City Council and signed into law by DeBlasio, that he says prevent troopers from doing their jobs or defending themselves.
Wonder what the rank-and-file troopers themselves will do.
Portland is now coming up on two months of this mob rioting, vandalism, and arson.
Minneapolis looked like a war zone after a week of it.
Gotta’ wonder what Portland looks like.
Also waiting for them to ask for federal money to fix the damages.
