“You want some poor politician schlub to get Arkancided?”
If we act in a way to save the country, this will go hot.
Now or later?
Or never.
Our choice.
Do you remember or are you aware of the HR6 controversy?
Some time back , in 1994, a bill was introduced in the House that would in effect, give the government control of homeschooling.
HSLDA at one time has a great article posted on their website about the whole thing, but I cannot find it now.
I did find these however.
A battle is won. The war isnt over.

HR-6: A Dead Giant or a Living Lesson (1994)

The long and short of it was that homeschoolers and private school folks, who would also be affected by this bill, FLOODED the White House and Capitol switchboard and overloaded it to the point where it basically shut down (crashed) from the overload.
The reps were shocked and said that they had NEVER seen a response to a bill like that and it was soundly defeated with the exception of the one vote for it by the guy who sponsored the bill.
I have contacted HSLDA and asked them where I could find t he article. I will let people know when I hear back from them.
Thanks.
I will start saving those links.

And that is what lies at the heart of leftist doctrine. Its not YOUR money that YOU earned. It's all the states money that it graciously allows you to keep some of. When they passed the Income Tax they claimed only a few percent would be taken and only from the very rich. Of course they did not mirror that into that cancerous amendment.
The solution is simple: Separation of School and State. Turn over public school properties in the form of stocks to it's employees and then STOP all state funding. A lot of states have voter initiatives so the legislature is not even needed. Imagine the panic among the left and its howls of indignation if that choice were to appear on even one state ballot.
I understand.
I am just relating what the prevailing thinking of our group was at the time.
Exactly.
They would lose their monopoly and their power.
“I am proposing legislation a tuition tax-credit for all homeschool families to the state legislature today.
OMG! What an idea!!
I look forward to reading it.
I know there are active groups in the Houston area, including a homeschool coop type organization for those classes that parents would prefer not to teach.
The Des Moines area has a homeschool group, but apparently one has to pay to join? Seem rather clique-ish.
I would certainly hope that at least a few folks are discovering with this closure that home schooling is doable and can give a lot of satisfaction, especially some of the folks in the ghetto. A couple of our homeschooling families here are from that part of town and they have broadened their lives tremendously by being part of a home school group. You discover that you are not doing it alone and there is auxiliary resource out there. For one you don’t have to forego band or sports. The private schools love to enroll HS kids in their sports and music programs so they have enough for teams and bands. Even the public schools will cooperate to some extent.
Private and Charter schools could assist parents with this... crossover help could make all groups stronger.
The fees to join cover some small overhead expenses and are not prohibitive.
Nobody is forcing anyone to join anything so if you don’t want to pay, Don’t go. It’s not cliquish. People don’t value what they don’t pay for.
Ben Carson was raised by a single, illiterate mom who essentially homeschooled her son. He did attend public school but she would do what she could at home when he came home.
His story is amazing and he went from heading to JD to becoming the foremost pediatric brain surgeon in the world.
Ben Carson’s story lays to rest the lies that parents are not qualified to teach their own kids and that socio-economic factors are an impediment to it.
They should at least let people visit a couple of times first. It isn’t for me, but the person I know does not have a lot of money to spare. Also, she was not exactly given encouragement to be a part of it when she did contact them.
Yes, it’s clique-ish, and unfortunately, this is not the only homeschool group that I have seen behave in this fashion.
Why don’t you sponsor her then?
I’m sure it happens in some places, but I am not answerable for them.
Good prayer to add to my prayer list. I’ve been praying for TRUTH to get out to American people past the lies and brainwashing of the media and social media.
I wonder if standardized test scores will go up even though the children have not been enrolled in institutionalized schooling.
I will be curious to see that.
