Michelle Malkin: Mask Mandates Are a Public Health Menace
CNS ^ | July 15 2020 | Malkin

Posted on 07/16/2020 7:37:28 PM PDT by rintintin

Jared Polis, the Democratic governor of Colorado, thinks those of us who oppose scientifically dubious, constitutionally suspect, and dangerously overbroad face mask mandates are "selfish bastards."

I think Polis is a pandering pandemic control freak endangering public health, safety, and sanity.

There. Now that the name-calling is out of the way, let's talk facts.

Contracting COVID can be fatal or debilitating for the elderly, immune-compromised, and physically challenged. But there is no catastrophic public health emergency justifying sweeping government orders and ordinances that would force healthy citizens to wear masks in an increasingly oppressive climate of manufactured fear — completely untethered from pragmatic realities and risk assessments.

According to the federal government's own COVID-19 data, 120,675 deaths in America have been tied to the virus. Tracked weekly by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, fatalities peaked on April 18, 2020, with 16,897 succumbing to the disease. (Keep in mind that many medical whistleblowers have reported that these statistics are inflated by including "COVID"-related deaths uncorroborated by lab results and also by including patients who died with COVID infections, but not necessarily from the virus itself.) In the 12 weeks since April 18, as states have reopened and protests (or riots) of all kinds have brought tens of thousands of people in close contact, deaths have fallen precipitously.

For the week of July 11, 2020, guess how many deaths were attributed to the virus? 181.

The total number of deaths for school-age children between February and July 2020 are 9 (under 1 year of age); 7 (ages 1-4); 14 (age 5-14); and 149 (ages 15-24).

All deaths are tragic, of course. But we haven't banned cars, bikes, swimming pools, aspirin, plastic bags, or matches to prevent the tens of thousands of school-age deaths that occur each year due to unintentional accidents

Hysterical piece from the 15th. It’s understandable, though, that the commie/fascist environment in those Democrat-owned states eventually gets to many those states’ residents.

Most of the prominent stores in the more conservative Republican states will require customers to wear masks next week. We don’t care much about masks either way, because we only pick up what we need in a store once every few days.

Conservatives in conservative states will continue to work and play most of the time without worrying about minor inconveniences like masks. There are more important things to do along with being busy with our own more important business, like helping President Trump to be reelected in about 3 1/2 months.

Enjoy the great outdoors. No mask required. It’s summertime.

If 100% of us contracted this Covid Virus only 99.997% would be left to tell our story

The Swedes didn’t wear the death masks, nor did they implement cruel lockdowns.

Their latest death total from the KungFlu: Zero.

That says it all.

The Swedes may be complete suicidal morons on immigration but they handled the scamdemic better than any country in the world.

Not to get too picky, but Vietnam was also, zero.

So the Swedes did not handle the KungFlu better than anyone else.

But as well as Vietnam, anyway.

:)

and masks are the only difference between us and vietnam. Just because 2 things may be true does not prove relationship let alone causality

To be honest, I did also mention the tight control Vietnam threw up to the world, about tourism and travel.

That was also a factor.

Even now.

There is no great health emergency but the governors and mayors are exulting in their newfound powers of Tyranny. Those powers won’t go away again. The Constitution has proven to be a thin reed easily crushed and the powers newly exercised may by put in abeyance for a bit but they will not disappear, shelved but not incinerated. Emergencies will be henceforth much easier to declare and will become declarable by governors and mayors until the governors clamp down on mayors who threaten the governors’ monopolies. I think in the future this Pandemic will be the mark of the end of the Constitutional Republic, no matter who wins in November. Humpty Dumpty cannot be reassembled as a living thing.

probably the biggest. If you are a relatively small country and can close your borders you will do well for a while. But you can’t stay isolated forever

Masks are a large part of the reason that Vietnam is currently not running infections of Covid. Lack of visas, are also important.

I think the latter is much more important. Hawaii shut down travel too and did well. Same in New Zealand.
