TAMPA (WFLA) — Health officials reported the highest daily increase of coronavirus deaths in Florida residents on Tuesday.

...

Floridians in the 25 to 34 age group account for the largest percentage of cases throughout the state. There are 59,310 confirmed cases in that age group, which is 21% of the state’s total. Of those cases, only 6% are hospitalized and 1% have died.

I posted this mostly for that last paragraph. It was accompanied by a chart, which showed that, for the 25-34 age group, they had 59,310 confirmed cases, 1183 hospitalizations, and 6 deaths.

Now, if you know how to "math", you will immediately realize that 1183/59310 = 1.9%, and that 6/59310=0.0001

NOT 6%, and 1%. 1.9%, and 0.01%.

Why the error? Well, it turns out that 25-34 year-olds are 6% of the total hospitalizations, and 1% of the total deaths -- because they have the LARGEST number of cases.

The real story is that most of their cases are in an age group that is barely taxing the hospitals (6% of the total hospitalizations), and has a death rate of 1 per 10,000, which I think is exactly TWICE the death rate from a tonsillectomy (1 in 20,000).

Have you EVER heard of someone skipping a tonsillectomy because they were afraid they would die from it?

That is some stunningly bad arithmetic. You’d think even in Florida they could do better than that.

RE: if you do the math....

Have to remember math is racist.
You’re dealing in facts and logic, plus math. Not a leftist favorite thing to do.

Do we agree that if Trump loses (God forbid) then on Inauguration Day Fauci will announce: Re-open the country. Covid is not affected by lockdowns and self-quarantines. Pump up the recovery economy for the new Dem regime. Get ready for the boom.

Fox Orlando already did a report about these numbers earlier today. Pure Bs Multiplied by tenfold.

UGH. The chart I read wrong. It is 26 deaths, not 6 deaths.

So the death rate is 0.04%, not 0.01%.

I “mathed” right, but failed reading.

FOX 35 in Orlando did some actual investigative reporting of local testing centers and area hospitals and discovered (shocked!) Huge errors in reporting.
Three examples (there are many more).
One lab reported a 98% infection rate. The actual rate is 9.4%.
A VA hospital reported a 76% infection rate. The actual rate, 6%.
And, one lab reported a 100% infection rate. All of these and many other “errors” went into the states official tally and no one questioned them.

So it’s eight times more deadly than a tonsillectomy?

6/59310=0.0001

And the denominator doesn't including asymptomatic infections that haven't been tested.

Because he is a Republican... also known as, The Stupid Party. With few exceptions, these people do nothing more than sit around all day drinking martinis and collecting a salary.

This country is finished. When the legal branch of the government is corrupt, everything else falls. The whole F’ing country tiptoes around in their slippers, trying not to offend someone.

Example: When the FBI refused to turn over documentation, Trump should have called Wray into the Oval Office and beat the shit out of him in front of CNN cameras.

Trump should have Mark Levin on his legal team.... a tough, no shit bulldog, not a pastry-puff like Barr.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/COVID19/

Per the CDC, corona deaths for the week ending 7/11/20 were 181 nationwide. For 7/4 they were 302. These are esentially zero in a population of 300 million.

It’s being called out just not covered, not to mention some of the reporting of new cases have been inflated over 90%...

The report showed that Orlando Health had a 98 percent positivity rate. However, when FOX 35 News contacted the hospital, they confirmed errors in the report. Orlando Health’s positivity rate is only 9.4 percent, not 98 percent as in the report.

“The report also showed that the Orlando Veteran’s Medical Center had a positivity rate of 76 percent,” added FOX 35. “A spokesperson for the VA told FOX 35 News on Tuesday that this does not reflect their numbers and that the positivity rate for the center is actually 6 percent.”

Um...no. DeSantis has not shut down anything unlike Abbott. We are still open and no statewide mask mandate.

I can tell you from my personal experience, in my area of FL, in Church, better than 75% masks...mostly older population though. Younger population attending Church not in masks, but maintaining distance. Shopping, about 50/50 masks in stores that are not requiring it, up a bit but understandable with the media hype. Haircuts, personal services, employees in masks, patrons not. Dr./Dentist offices staff in masks, patients, not, unless they choose to wear. Restaurants, bars closed, but hi top tables pushed up to bar, distance appropriate, employees masks, patrons in masks prob 50/50 or less. Only thing I’m aware of not open is movie theaters and bars (no food service), everything else open. And in my neck of the woods, majority of parents are wanting schools to open. Latest info coming out about discrepancies in testing in FL is going to make people say screw this sh_t...
