wo police officers were killed in a Texas border town Saturday in what authorities described as an ambush shooting.
The gunman later killed himself after engaging in a shootout with other responding officers, The Monitor of McAllen, Texas, reported.
The slain McAllen officers were identified as Edelmiro Garza, 45, and Ismael Chavez, 39. They were killed while responding to a domestic disturbance complaint, The Monitor reported.
“We have lost two brave public servants who sought only to keep peace in our City,” McAllen police Chief Victor Rodriguez said via text message Saturday, according to the newspaper.
Texas Gov. Gregg Abbott addressed the news via Twitter on Saturday evening and praised the self-sacrifice of the two officers.
"Two of our finest were killed in the line of duty while working to protect residents in their community," Abbott wrote. "I've spoken with McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez and offered the full support of the State of Texas. We unite to #BackTheBlue."

Damn. Just damn. Prayers for the family, friends, and comrades of both of them.
This makes me sick........these officers are getting ambushed more and more lately.....if it’s on purpose, which I have no other way of looking at it, all calls to residences should have swat backup.....God bless these families and these officers honored.........;(

So very sad, praying for the officer’s families.
Was the killing inspired by BLM, you know “pigs in a blanket fry ‘em like bacon” and “what do we want, dead cops, when do we want it, now”? Yovnknow the Black Lives Matter political organization supported by Nike, Target, Adidas, etc. profession athletes like LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, Bubba Watson, NASCAR, the NFL, the NBA, US women’s soccer team, megen Rapinoe, women’s basketball teams, Mayor Bill DeBlasio, Democrat Mayors of Atlanta, Portland, Seattle, Minnesota, etc. Bernie Sanders, AOC, Nancy Pelosi, Jerry Nadler, Joe Biden, Maxine Waters, Jim Clyburn, heck the entire Democrat party. They all want to disband the police and agree with BLM.
Every cop is now going to hesitate...Will the city/county/state bosses throw me under the wheels for defending myself? Send me to joint where I’m targeted to be beaten/stabbed to death?

I don’t know. Domestics are always the most dangerous call for police so it is not unusual. All of the anti-cop rhetoric certainly does not help.
“...responding to a domestic disturbance complaint.” Always dangerous. Best to stand outside a house on the street with a Bible and rifle and honk car horn to get attention from people inside the house. Knocking on the door is risky.
After they defund the police, they will have family counselors respond to these calls.
I don’t think they will be defunding the police in Texas outside of the a few cities. Texas is a law and order state where the vast majority of counties and municipalities won’t tolerate crap.
My question would be, who’s going to investigate all the shooting calls regarding citizens defending themselves from these very violent anti-American cults?

If cities implement social workers responding to “non-violent” calls, I wonder how high the body count will be before they stop this insanity?
This is how it started in Spain as well prior to 1936; in certain regions the national police (Civil Guard) could only patrol in pairs because of the danger. When the military revolted against the leftist government determined to create a communist country, most of the police flocked to them.
That “hesitation” is already happening in urban NJ areas now; it is called “de-policing” - and the crime stats reflect it. Many police departments here recently became jobs programs for certain preferred minorities, so there hasn’t been much tension with the restless natives.
Even when “gentle giant” Eric Garner was killed on Staten Island, the ranking cop at the scene was a black female sergeant; while it wasn’t reported much, she’s clearly visible in the footage (standing back while real cops did the work).
The politicians are to blame. The ones who give support to blm, who demonized the police, who prosecute the police, who defund the police.
Right! look to the politicians who support these mongrels. They are telling us all something we are not hearing. It is time to make the donuts people
