The coronavirus outbreak has worsened the hunger crisis in the worlds poorest corners and up to 12,000 people could die each day from hunger linked to the social and economic effects of the pandemic, the humanitarian group Oxfam warned Thursday.
Its report said mass unemployment, disruption to food production and declining aid as a result of the pandemic could push an estimated 122 million people to the brink of starvation this year.
The knock-on impacts of COVID-19 are far more widespread than the virus itself, pushing millions of the worlds poorest people deeper into hunger and poverty, said the groups chief executive, Danny Sriskandarajah. It is vital governments contain the spread of this deadly disease, but they must also prevent it killing as many _ if not more _ people from hunger.
The charity said that in some of the worlds worst hunger hot spots, including Yemen, Afghanistan, Syria and South Sudan, the food crisis is worsening because of border and supply route closures or a huge drop in remittances as result of the pandemic. In middle-income countries like India, South Africa and Brazil, millions of people who had been just about managing have been tipped over the edge.

“We’re Oxfam and we want some money dammit!”

The article is actually a good argument to use against liberals for opening businesses and the economy.
If we don't open the economy millions could die.
Oxfam is a Marxist front which derives funding from alarmist propaganda; nevertheless, the dire predictions give veracity to PDJT’s admonition that “the cure cannot be worse than the disease”.
He allowed a global hoodwinking the day that Mike Pense lowered the “15 days to flatten the curve” sign and hoisted the new, improved version “30 days to stop the spread”.
It didn’t take much common sense to anticipate catastrophes like this when they first announced business lock downs. And yet these geniuses didn’t factor in such costs into their decision making. Or perhaps they just didn’t care.
Exactly!
It could also be said that if the left isn’t soundly rejected, and soon, millions will die.
DR. BARRETT FOUND THE SILVER BULLET FOR COVID RIGHT UNDER OUR NOSES!
Some folk died needlessly? BIG DEAL! Can’t make an omelet without breaking a few (score thousand) eggs, right?
If what you learn in the next half hour fails to make you very, very angry, see if you can fog a mirror. And, if you’re a Democrat, when you’re done, you’re STILL a Democrat, get a CAT scan of your head. See that tiny little BB thing on the monitor? Your brain!

Here is one nugget...the nonprofit aid agencies need the first 5mil. just for meetings and conferences in Washington DC to make plans for saving Africans.
Top of the line everything.
If the don't draw more than 5 million, they stay home.
No, but the Demagogic Party shutdown and other leftie shutdowns around the world could -- and is intended to.

Well, rather than spending resources fighting stupid grudge wars these folks should be planting, harvesting and storing food. Are they waiting for 'the white man' to come feed them? Sorry folks that ship has sailed..
Don’t matter. Fauchi said we gotta flatten the curve.
Stock up on toilet paper and food!
;D
I don't have a problem with Oxfam as long as they use their own money.
One good thing about Oxfam I support is they help people OVER THERE. They're not demanding we bring millions of people here.
We need more groups helping people OVER THERE not bringing them here.
Honestly, that’s the first praise of Oxfam I’ve ever heard.
But it makes sense.
