Perfect Catch 22. Don't open up, the economy literally crashes. People go crazy (riot/loot/etc.) and blame leadership and vote Socialists/Leftists/Murderers/Hell yeah, we're gonna take your AR-15s in to office. Open up, a few more people get the virus (but get well) and the Socialits/Leftist/Murderers/Hell yea, we're gonna take your AR15s scream leadership wants everyone to die and enough believe it to vote them in to office.

Once in control, riots/looting and all criticism of government stops (or is forcefully stopped) and Hell yeah, we're gonna take your AR15s, other guns, ammunition and you will do whatever the hell we tell you to do. They will also pass legislation making every immoral act okay and every righteous act evil.

There was no way to make any shutdown work - every politician that fell for it will be made to look like an idiot when they try to end it. That was the while point.

Why take the advice to quit from a loser? Maybe if he won his advice would carry more weight.

I never expect government to earn its expensive keep.

Dealing with the virus is up to individuals and businesses.

Some Democrats act like Trump could make tests in the White House basement.

>>O’Rourke, who ran against — and nearly beat — Sen. Ted Cruz in the 2018 Senate election, tweeted:

Didn’t happen and if the press hadn’t covered up for O’Rourke’s demented “I wanna run over small children with my car” and “grab all the guns” and “ I made my wife eat a baby turd” moments it would’ve been even more of a defeat.

The flair-up in cases has taken place mainly in the Democrat lead cities. Most of this is attributed to the funeral of Floyd in Houston, and the protests/riots in other cities. The “second wave” should be called FLOYD-19

If the death rate (not the number of cases) is low enough, then the well-formedness criteria, ratio of benefit to harm and ratio of benefit to risk will be high enough to justify returning back to normal. The government should then treat the pandemic just like any other natural disaster and let each individual make choices based on his own individual rational judgment as to what is his own long run true interests. The government may intervene in particular specific situations if necessary.

The thing that caused the COVID spike in Texas concides precisely in time with the BLM protests when corrected for the incubation period. That is the ONLY factor that was significantly different from the period previous in which things were improving.

Beto is, as usual, an idiot and an ass.

Beto is the genius that went to Kent State, of all places, to push gun control - saying that only the government can be trusted with guns.

BTW: According to Biden, Beto is/will be Biden’s gun control guru.

plenty worth noting:

13 Jun: Medium: What Every Thinking Person Needs to Finally Get Clear About COVID
Everything we believed was wrong
by Omar S. Khan, Global consultant, 30 years experience spanning Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East.
This, I hope, will be the last of my explicitly “COVID” pieces, as we transition to open societies.
However, should we be tempted to relapse into this self-destructive temptation, I thought I would do a “grand tour” of COVID fallacies, once and for all, grounded in data and the best medical assessments we have from around the globe...

Everything touted as “best practice” re. COVID-19 and the medieval “lockdown” remedy was wrong. The seismic economic, social, and non-COVID medical impacts were not necessary, and it was herd thinking and “lemming” behavior run riot that led us astray. We can quickly do a run through the pseudo-scientific, media hysteria fostered, medical guesswork morphing into policy making absurdities...

So, what is driving this policy is not science, just pure adult paranoia, and media conniptions...
The “black swan” was not the virus but the lockdowns
Who could have predicted that a new virus would be hyped to such frothing foam, that we would take the most unprecedentedly stupid step in recent political and economic history, and literally shutter the entire planet?

Lockdown is a medieval concept and only infiltrated US policy planning via a high school research paper in 2006
I’ve written about the history of lockdown in my article Where Did “Lockdown” Come From and so won’t revisit it in detail. However, this was a paper extrapolating based on no knowledge of viruses, epidemiology, or public health. It was roundly rejected by a group of specialists, led by Dr. D.A. Henderson, who led the public effort to eradicate smallpox. He pointed out the repercussions could be ruinous, there was no science behind just widespread ubiquitous “locking down” or quarantining, and he argued that free societies have successfully dealt with pandemics for centuries while remaining functioning.

As late as 2019, WHO did not even list “lockdown” as an option in their list of 18 “Non-pharmaceutical public health measures for mitigating the risk and impact of epidemic and pandemic influenza.”

China’s panicked three week economic shutdown of Wuhan and two month shutdown of travel in and out of the province, instigated by waiting too long, after there was a mass eruption, and superspreaders had traveled far and wide, became somehow the playbook for everyone...

The collective and abject failure of nations to question group think deserves assiduous study from psychologists, doctors, economists, and possibly shamans, for some time...
We have to dust ourselves off from this debacle, and somehow exfoliate, empower and energize the future.

I only follow the death numbers. I noticed the daily deaths are at a peak that is twice what the seven day average low was. In most states, though the number of “cases” increases, the number of deaths either remains flat or drops.

Something else is going on in Texas, for whatever reason.

Sure, just ask this clown what he would have done differently if anything at all. In fact, start asking any lefty what they would have done differently. When they answer, say no, you need to answer my question with a specific answer.
