I wear my mask in the form of a ribbon that I wear on my lapel to signal my virtue.

The Left is gaslighting us, and they have been for long time. They tell a lie on Trump or another GOP, then after it is PROVED that their lie is false, they continue to tell the lie and call us the liars. They gaslight gaslight gaslight! They are good at projection and gaslighting. They are the narcissists. They are malignant narcissists. The professional psychologists tell their clients to stay clear of narcissists

Well, they *can* be effective...if worn properly (many don't) regularly cleaned to avoid other infections (many don't) and not overworn to cause respiratory problems of their own (many don't).

And I wouldn't rely on the WHO for anything regardless.

Do Not wear a mask

Like a broken clock the WHO is right on this one

Masks are stupid and don’t do anything unless you’re a surgeon and operating room or you’re trying to protect yourself from air pollution

They don’t and won’t stop this or pretty much any virus and you can avail yourself of many other ways to combat this and other viruses such as colloidal silver

If you live in some stupid Democrat jurisdiction requiring masks just tie a bandanna around your neck when you go in the store and that flies

Can people sue their local governments if they get health issues from being forced to wear a mask?

Ultimately, you want immunity and for that you need exposure.

How you do this for yourself is your decision. You know “you” better than anyone. It’s your call.

I wear hearing protection around loud noise because my hearing is very susceptible to damage from loud sounds, butI only wear hearing protection when I am in a noisy and potentially harmful situation.

It blocks the loud and painful damaging sounds, but it still allows enough sound to pass through for my ears to work so I can function normally.

For those most susceptible to the latest virus, a mask would perform a similar function.

Wearing a mask while in a potentially harmful environment would block, for example, the full blast of someone’s “aerosols”, but would still allow enough to pass through for the person’s immune system to work so they can function normally.

The full blast, whether of sound or aerosols, would be too much, but a little coming through keeps things functioning as designed.

The ultimate goal is immunity for all of us and the sooner the better so we and life can function normally again!

We are social beings and sooner or later we need herd immunity If we want to be a part of the herd.

And we do ... social isolation, however well intended, is not healthy.

From 2013....

Effectiveness of Surgical Masks Against Influenza Bioaerosols

...The results demonstrated limitations of surgical masks in this context, although they are to some extent protective.

Near the bottom of this page, the WHO has a very good article discussing the pros and cons of masks. It is a 16 page pdf file:

https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public/when-and-how-to-use-masks

Worth reading. They make it clear that if you can keep THREE FEET (1 meter, 3.3 feet) separation, and are not in a hospital, that a mask is not needed. At all. But it is a well-written, reasonable article with a lot of citations from reputable medical journals. Well worth the time IMHO!

BTW - I wouldn’t trust squat from the WHO if given as a pronouncement. But their paper is logical and cites the evidence. I respect THAT!

Mandated mask-wearing is a terrible thing except in one important respect. People who, still scared fauci-less of the Wuhan Flu, would otherwise remain locked in their homes away from other people. The mask gives them the confidence -- because their local politician told them so -- to venture outside and be around other people where they unwittingly transmit and/or contract the germs thus contributing to widespread immunity that would otherwise stretch out for months on end (or at least until the first Tuesday in November).

Besides, there is simply no way to separate a mask zealot from their face diaper -- no amount of logic, reason, updated contrary data, or a discussion of the plummeting death rate (due to high numbers of new cases despite the mask wearing and anti-social distancing) will change their thinking. The only thing that will is when their governor or some other lower-level bureaucrat tells them that it's "safe" to leave their daylong snot rags at home. Don't waste your time engaging them in a reasoned debate or even a discussion.
