I thought the picture was worth a thousand words, honestly.
The Twitter thread it appeared in several days ago is *still* going strong.
Madness.
You tragically and accurately described Marxism. My heart breaks for your state, FRiend, and all the states.
Conservatism is rooted in the understanding that good things are hard to create, but easy to destroy.
No argument there.
I’ve heard many Democrats try that tactic, just ask them if they think all those wearing hoods would have voted for Abraham Lincoln.
Oddly enough the winning side in the pre-Revolutionary Battle of Point Pleasant put up a statue to the defeated Shawnee leader Cornstalk...as well as the winning colonial leader Col? Andrew Lewis, although the pair of fairly recent statues is crude and amateurish. I have no idea where they are displayed as there’s a classic sculpture of Lewis at Pt. Pleasant in stone.
Gen. Andrew Lewis has better executed statues in the region, though. So far Antifa hasn’t vandalized them yet.
Well for one thing the USA did NOT honor Southern heroes with statues/memorials.
The CSA heroes statues & the memorials to the war dead were PRIVATELY PAID FOR by THE UNITED CONFEDERATE VETERANS, THE UNITED DAUGHTERS of the CONFEDERACY, THE SONS of CONFEDERATE VETERANS or THE CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL SOCIETY.
(Almost W/O exception the statues & the majority of the memorials to the dead were placed on PRIVATE PROPERTY. - For example, the statues on MONUMENT AVENUE were all on PRIVATE PROPERTY.)
FWIW, even in my little rural home county in TX, the CONFEDERATE MEMORIAL to the CSA’s UNKNOWN SOLDIER is on PRIVATE PROPERTY, even though the property is ON the central plaza in downtown. - A 30x30 foot plot was sold to the UDC in 1902 & the Daughters still own/maintain the memorial.
Expect to see a HUGE group of civil suits to be filed against Mayor Stoney, the City of Richmond & other groups/cities/counties for UNLAWFUL TAKING & DESTRUCTION OF PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Yours, TMN78247
True, but Lincoln’s views did change over the span of his presidency since his pre-presidential debate comments on their inferiority, which were given in Illinois at a time Illinois was virtually a southern state, populated as it was with settlers of southern origin, many from the Carolinas. Even with that view of their inferiority, he did believe they were still as entitled to the fruits of their labor as any white. And, it was fortunate he didn’t go all John Brown and attempt to debate as a firebrand committed abolitionist about equality of races or he would likely have scared off borderline and moderate support and never have been elected. Downstate Illinois was so full of southern sentiment that, IIRC, the officers of a regiment of men raised to fight by the Union ended up accused of treason.
Or maybe, Northam Petersburg? Northam Virginia? I don't know...Coonman is erasing Virginia history.
If the earth was flat, cats would’ve already knocked everything off the edge.
:)
I wish all y’all could’ve met my gramma.
It’s her fault my dad called me Ellie May.
/miss that woman so much
DEMOCRATS DESTROY EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE THAT IS GOOD! THEY RUIN EVERYTHING THEY TOUCH!
They would be in Washington, D.C., until now, when the rioters realized they were losers.
You are correct! Its sad to see so many are ignorant of American history. Its was very commonly believed before the civil war that states voluntarily joined the union and were free to leave. I wish it were so today.
