Jeff Bezos' Twitch temporarily bans Trump for 'hateful conduct'

Twitch, a streaming platform owned by Amazon mogul Jeff Bezos, has temporarily banned President Trump’s account for “hateful conduct” stemming from footage of the president’s speeches.

“Hateful conduct is not allowed on Twitch. In line with our policies, President Trump’s channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed,” a Twitch spokesperson told Fox News.

A rebroadcast of Trump’s 2015 campaign launch -- when he famously criticized people crossing the Mexican border to illegally enter the United States -- and comments Trump made at his recent Tulsa rally were flagged by Twitch.

But the pressure can be brought to bear on almost any platform his campaign tries to use. If it’s an existing web hosting service, like say WIX.com, other advertisers and users will pull their advertising and hold back their dollars demanding wix dump trump or they split forever, such actions could and would bankrupt most hosting services, and that’s where the threat is.

In order to be truly free of pressure, the Trump campaign would have to set up their own service for the sole purpose of hosting the President and other conservative voices, something that is too late to efffectively start now.

And not just conservative voices. Today Reddit banned all “Gender critical” feminist subreddits (i.e. left-leaning feminists that think “trans women” don’t belong playing women’s sports, in their lockerrooms, etc.). If you’re not far left, you’re going to be removed from social media.

Right, Dr. Disrespect. Most likely it was for inappropriate texting with possibly underage, female viewers and or foul language. But he had a ton of viewers and was funny in an adult way..

Im not sure he was or not, but anyone can be on Twitch, it’s mostly streaming for gamers, but lately they have been growing their content and audience.

That is absolutely correct and social media is the way the info is getting out now and will in the future. Conservatives need to get their butts in gear and figure out how to master social media but I’m afraid it might be too late to make a difference this year.

I never joined any of the social media sites. Couldn’t get interested in doing so. I wanted to see what Parler was all about as there was/is so much whoop de do about it so I joined last week. I am losing interest quickly.

The only site that makes any sense to me, and that keeps free of all the totally unnecessary foul language (the ‘F’ word) used only to express the ignorance of the poster is Free Republic. My wife and I will support/remain here, and use the Parler site as a back up when the posting of news is slow at FR.

I’m not sure that rigging Social media is really suspending the constitution, if that’s what you mean, there is so much unexplored legal ground here and no one really has a firm handle on any of it that it will be years of sorting out just what and social media platforms can and cannot do in regards to speech.

The Right should have been throwing lawsuits at Facebook and Twitter for the last 2-3 years looking for weaknesses in the legal armor, but now, this close to the election, it’s just too late.

I fear that if President Trump tries to force the issue with social media platforms he comes off looking mean, old, out of step and that will be a killer with some, many voters

Amazon is the height of Capitalism, provide products the consumer wants at a price that makes the owner a profit. Consumers have to make a conscious choice to keep their local stores in business, but its hard to do when I can buy a book for a big discount or an Kindle version for an even lower price or pay full retail at Barnes and Noble or some mom and pop shop. I love bookstores, I love to read so it’s a tough choice or me as I live in a very small town with NO bookstore and have to travel an hour to get to a brick and mortar or get online and have the book delivered to my doorstep often in 1 day. Tough choices but I don’t fault Amazon for being successful.

With large corps like Coke suspending their social media advertising in an attempt to pressure sm platforms into censoring and removing conservative voices, including President Trump, by October there will be no conservative presence on most of the internet. Television and radio will be next.

Big Tech is getting a mulligan for 2020 from the GOP to defeat Trump.

Bezos should be under subpoena now and facing a public keel hauling in a US Senate hearing for election interference. Sending a strong signal now that this will not be tolerated will certainly put the Dems/Big Tech off balance and on defense. That won’t be happening, of course, becuase the GOP wants Trump to lose every bit as much as the Democrats do.
