Vice President Mike Pence has canceled his campaign trips to Arizona and Florida due to concerns over COVID-19 as the states experience spikes in coronavirus cases.
A spokesperson for President Donald Trump's campaign confirmed to USA TODAY the events, which included stops as part of Pence's "Faith in America" tour, were canceled "out of an abundance of caution" as cases climb in Florida and Arizona.
On Tuesday, Pence was scheduled to give remarks at a "Faith in America" event in Tucson and to meet with Gov. Doug Ducey about the COVID-19 response.
Pence had planned to travel to Florida on July 2 for a bus tour, meeting with Gov. Ron DeSantis about coronavirus, and to deliver remarks both at a "Faith in America" event in Sarasota after touring Oakley Transport Inc. in Lake Wales.
The two states have seen record numbers of cases as the nation experiences spikes in several states. The United States reported a second day of record cases Saturday.
Florida announced 9,585 cases Saturday, and Arizona announced 3,591 cases.

The world is not ending in Arizona.
When I was a kid there 5 decades ago we had worse.
And the interesting thing is that the Mexicans seem to be getting it, but surviving it. That’s probably because on average they are younger. The deaths are in the White population, likely the older, since rest homes are hardest hit.
It’s the same crap. Up in Sun City and other retirement Nirvana’s, the disease gets passed around quickly and people die.
Outside of that, people get it (probably a LOT more then is reported), get over it, and go on.
Until there are widely agreed on therapies and or vaccines it’s gonna go down like this. Eventually it will have infected everyone who’s gonna get infected, 99.7% will get through it, and at that point the herd will have its immunity and the risk of passing it to Nana will be near zero.
Just gonna be that way. Most of the Mexican people I talk to accept that, they just endure it and move on.

Positivity has been the talking point for the past week.
so he’s still traveling there but not taking part in campaign events:
“Vice President Pence will no longer participate in campaign events in Arizona and Florida this week,” a spokesman close to Pence told Fox News Saturday. “This is related to coronavirus numbers increasing in those states.”
Pence will still be traveling to Florida, Arizona and Texas next week Fox News confirmed, to meet with governors and evaluate the situation on the ground in those states seeing spikes in coronavirus cases.
They never seem to mention that last part 😢
