It wasn't meant to be funny but when you read Wednesday's New York Times story about virtue-signaling liberals living in the Minneapolis neighborhood of Powderhorn Park trying to avoid calling police despite rising crime due to a new homeless encampment it comes off as hilarious inadvertent comedy. A big factor in the comedic entertainment is provided by Times reporter Caitlin Dickerson writing in all seriousness about how the besieged neighborhood liberals can enforce the law without actually calling law enforcement.
The comedy begins with the very title of the story, "A Minneapolis Neighborhood Vowed to Check Its Privilege. It’s Already Being Tested." Yup, vowing to check your "privilege" by the virtue signalers has put the liberals in a rather comedic conundrum of their own making as you can see from the first example presented:

I don’t think the store that called the cops on Floyd over a counterfeit $20 should have done so. (Pretty sure they suffered no loss, so what’s the point?) I’m wondering if this came out of that, and has turned into a whole insane thing as a result of no common sense being applied in either case?
There are a variety of interesting little ‘experiments’ going on.
We see failed naivety, in some areas, and we see in others that even basic attempts to manage the areas result in policies that the Left tries to block at the national level - because they are so blatantly obvious.
We also see policing-type attempts which are consistently more abusive than the police actions they are supposed to be replacing.

Yup! If someone gets a counterfeit bill, then just hand it back. A few years ago somebody tried to pay me for something I was selling with an almost brand new $100 bill Series 1950. From the Truman era. I refused to accept it and the guy got pissed off. I told him if the bill is as legit as he claimed to just go to any local bank, cash it, and then come back with 20 dollar bills.
He stalked off but it never occurred to me to call the cops.

watching the mental gymnastics of these people on the minneapolis subreddit has been comedy gold. well, actually, it makes you weep b/c we’re witnessing the suicide of western civilization. but you kinda laugh at the same time.
The New York Times rag doesn’t get more unintentionally funny than this. I always call a Cherokee when I need cop. lol
Why don’t they just call a social worker?
They called over his erratic behavior and the fact he was acting drunk and got into a vehicle in the driver’s seat as well as how belligerent he was regarding trying to pass the fake 20.
It really helps to have the entire context when discussing this.
