The piece, by Brooklyn College professor Moustafa Bayoumi, asked why a Minnesota convenience store called the police on George Floyd. Midway through, Bayoumi casually invoked the historical tensions between blacks and Jews.
"In Harlem in the 1960s, most such stores were Jewish-owned," Bayoumi writes, offering as evidence James Baldwin’s 1967 essay, also published in the Times, titled "Negroes Are Anti-Semitic Because They're Anti-White." In that essay, Baldwin writes, "It is bitter to watch the Jewish storekeeper locking up his store for the night, and going home."
"Today, many of these stores in major cities around the country are run by Arab-American and South-Asian-American merchants," Bayoumi writes, "but the justifiable resentments remain the same."
The argument: The resentment of Jews was justifiable then and the sordid legacy persists. "In the American context," Baldwin wrote, "the most ironical thing about Negro anti-Semitism is that the Negro is really condemning the Jew for having become an American white man—for having become, in effect, a Christian. The Jew profits from his status in America, and he must expect Negroes to distrust him for it. The Jew does not realize that the credential he offers, the fact that he has been despised and slaughtered, does not increase the Negro's understanding. It increases the Negro's rage."
And while Jews no longer own many of the corner stores about which Bayoumi and Baldwin wrote, anti-Semitism among African Americans persists. A 2013 survey conducted by the Anti-Defamation League, the most recent that tracked the views of African Americans, found that 12 percent of Americans—but 20 percent of African Americans—hold "strongly anti-Semitic views."

Sounds like the object of that hatred in this case is "assimilation" and the advantages that derive from it.
The majority of black people have chosen not to assimilate into mainstream American culture. Their African cultural heritage prevents assimilation.
I sort of assumed that the Farrakhan factor was instrumental in generating black anti-semitism. But according to this article, it was already there.
The many Blacks who have assimilated and become successful are lost to their cause because they now enjoy the fruits of the American dream.
African black people have little trouble assimilating in mainstream American culture.
Nigerian blacks people in America have lower crime rates than white people.
It is not African culture that is the problem. It is the slave culture and cultural Marxism which are the problems.

What you’re describing is the attitude of envy promoted by communist influence. This isn’t traced to Farrakhan but much farther back to W. E. B. Du Bois.

It is really an insidious two prong attack by Dems to marginalize blacks thru welfare dependency and ultimately to exterminate them thru abortion. Dems moved from overt racism of the KKK and Jim Crow to covert racism that parades as “help” when it is in fact the destroyer of Africasn Americans.

There you have it. The genesis of the “Negro problem “ is precisely the choice they made to listen to the swan song of the Socialist Du Bois in preference to the hard work, discipline and self-reliance preached by Booker T. Washington.

No, the great majority of black people have assimilated very well. Since WWII we have built a huge black middle class. Increasing numbers of black people are professionally successful and are upper middle class and wealthy. We have by far the most affluent black population anywhere in the world. Given our tangled history on race, this is an enormous achievement. It should be recognized and celebrated. Instead, it is largely ignored by a media that is feeding racist resentments in order to advance a political agenda.
It is true that the rate of poverty in the black community remains higher than it should be. The set of numbers I grabbed from the Kaiser Foundation were for 2018 and showed poverty rates by race as white, 9 percent; black, 22 percent; Hispanic, 19 percent; Asian, 11 percent; and Native American, 24 percent. The Hispanic and Asian numbers are driven up substantially by new arrivals; Asians generally do very well in the U.S., and Hispanics usually assimilate in a generation or two, but newcomers from Central America keep arriving by the millions.
The problem in the black and native American populations is an underclass composed largely of the left-behinds, supported in a poverty trap by the welfare state and living in communities that have been stripped of the best of their human capital. Most black people don't live in the ghetto or in public housing projects. Most Indians don't live on the reservations. They work steady jobs and live in working class or middle class neighborhoods like everyone else.
And of course, the black poverty rate would be much lower were it not for the 70 percent illegitimacy rate. The same goes for every other ethnic group as well; the rate of illegitimacy is over 50 percent among Hispanics and over 20 percent for whites. That's what drives intergenerational poverty in all races.
The media lies consistently and massively about the basic social dynamics in America. That short circuits serious discussion, fuels the self-defeating cult of victimhood, and is the root of many evils. The truth is that white America wants black America to succeed, and most black Americans are succeeding. The media and the left are doing their level best, however, to conceal that fact and sabotage racial progress in order to advance a political agenda.
The fact is that there have always been interests, both black and white, who have a vested interest in maintaining and perpetuating black hatred toward whites. Those interests include the democrat party, main stream media and black race-baiting leaders.
Well, you should know you have assimilated to Chinese mercantilism and culture. Don’t call yourself a Patriot, please spare us.
By "slave culture" you must mean being a slave on the Democrat plantation, since that is the only bondage that remains in America.
