A pair of top Democrats has introduced a bill aimed at blocking President Trumps plan to withdraw thousands of U.S. troops from Germany.
The bill, introduced by Senate Foreign Relations Committee ranking member Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and House Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.) in their respective chambers, would prohibit funding to implement a withdrawal in Europe unless several conditions are met.
The current U.S. troop presence in Germany is in the U.S. national security interest. Full stop, Menendez said in a statement. The administration has made no effort to explain how our country is stronger because of this drawdown decision. Because were not. This drawdown weakens America and Europe. And Vladimir Putin understands and appreciates that better than anyone.
In his own statement, Engel said that rather than heeding the overwhelming bipartisan rebuke from Congress about this scheme and its catastrophic consequences, President Trump has once again made foreign policy decisions based solely on his absurd affection for Vladimir Putin, a murderous dictator who has attacked America and our allies.
Trump confirmed Monday that he plans to slash the number of U.S. troops in Germany, which is home to the U.S. militarys European and Africa command headquarters.
Trump, faulting Germany for not meeting NATOs defense spending goal, said he would cut the number of troops to 25,000. There are about 35,000 troops there now, and the number can go as high as 52,000.
In 2014, NATO countries agreed to each spend 2 percent of their gross domestic products on their defense budgets by 2024. Just eight countries are at the 2 percent mark right now. Several others have plans to meet it by the deadline, but Germany is not on track to meet the goal.

Bottom feeding democrats. Better?
so now that there are 25000 instead of 35000 Putin is going to roll tanks into western Europe?
and if western europe fears him rolling into eastern europe, they can train and prepare more troops with THEIR money
Polish is a difficult language to learn. Ft. Trump here we come!
Do you even know how this whole legislation thing works?
Didn't they have Schoolhouse Rock back in your day?
If they did that they wouldnt have as much money for socialism or welfare programs.
Gutter-level Democrat opposition just to be opposing Trump. They DO NOTHING ELSE. EVER.
Germany is very wealthy.....and 9000 USA troops helps them twice...like double dipping. They spend their money in Germany and Germany can have 9000 less troops of its own.
We should have at most a few thousands troops. MPs to guard our bases, maintenance personnel to keep the base serviceable. That’s it.
If Germany was so frightened of a Russian invasion, you would think they would put more than 1.8% gdp into their defense budget.
The Pennsylvania National Guard has more main battle tanks than the ENTIRE German army.
...perhaps so, but why do we even have bases there.....?
BTW, if Pres. Obungo had proposed this, he would have
been hailed as a forceful leader, wise in his ways, bravo
for such foresight, Time to Bring Our Boys Home...!!!
yada yada yada.....
“What exactly did Putin do to tick off US Marxists? All of the rage against Putin since Hillry had the presidency all locked up is really strange.. “
Outlawed faggotry.
They must be getting some excellent kickbacks from Deutschland.
Pass it in the House and it’ll die in the Senate. Even if it passed the Senate Trump would veto it. Waste of time.

So they have no problem with Germany buying all its energy from Russia.
Ohhhhh... I forgot... thanks..
I doubt if Germany is worried too much about Putin. They are just fomplrting a natural gas pipeline from Russia so they can buy vast quantities of natural gas from Russia. Nice economic boon for the Russians.

The troops would be relocated to Poland so the deterrent to Russia would be the same if not better.
