Et tu, Gorsuch?

Et tu, Gorsuch? A little over three years into a lifetime appointment, and he's already speaking for Justice Ginsburg when it comes to matters of transsexualism and forgotten all about Justice Scalia's textualism.

No matter how hard we try, our "conservative" judges belly-flop into "strict constructionist" poseurs and weak-kneed judicial activists faster than Chief Justice Roberts can rewrite Obamacare into a tax. I mean, you try to keep these "originalist" jurists on a philosophically sound path. You teach them "right" from "wrong." You instill in them a respect for the law and the importance of always telling the truth. You can't be with them all the time, though. You know they're being tempted by strange leftists to rule by emotion and always let the "ends justify the means," but you tell yourself, "we can count on a judge described by many as Justice Scalia's natural successor, right?" Right?

Gorsuch portrayed himself as a textualist stalwart who understood the great societal costs of abdicating judicial restraint for willy-nilly lawmaking out of thin air. He promised to serve as a sound, objective, and impartial justice for an out-of-control Judicial Branch that has replaced "the law" with "the decree." All his friends said he was a man of principle. Conservatives smiled with pride. Those he was meant to serve gladly gave him their trust. And then, bam! Gorsuch's promises to apply the law as written failed even to outlive Justice Ginsburg.

It turns out he's been living a double life, inhaling the toxic postmodern rhetoric in his private chambers while nobody was looking and scratching that lawless, self-centered, inexcusable deconstructionist itch this whole time. So Gorsuch has come out of the closet, it seems, wearing nothing but his feelings and a smile.

This is what we need.

And this is the link to a letter sent to the senate by approximately 200 lefty organizations in 2018 while Britt Grant was being considered for her current position on the U.S. Court of Appeals.

I think she's the real deal and she's in her early 40's.

Anyone who the left hates this much must be good.

Oppose Britt Grant

Gorsuch’s fan club here was warned his “proven originalist judicial philosophy” wasn’t worth a warm bucket of spit and he privately held socially liberal views.

They refused to listen.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

This just in. Roberts has sided with the liberals to screw us on DACA. Says Trump’s Exec order was arbitrary and capricious.

I am a tad confused by this whole genders rights and the entire Constitutionality argument.

The law states no person can be refused employment based on their sex. Now these same laws apply to transsexuals, cross dressers and other assorted weirdos.

But unless I missed something there is no law forcing a business to hire one of them either. Almost no one gets hired on their first visit and job interview and there is ample time to check on their past. I also believe lying on a resume ot on a job app is grounds for termination.

I guess what I am saying is there is always a legitimate reason for not hiring or for terminating an employee if the “fit” is not satisfactory.

Help me out here, where am I wrong?

Yes, you missed something. The law applies to hiring discrimination as well, and it doesn’t matter if you have 1000 valid excuses for not hiring them. They can just bring a “disparate impact” case against you and the courts will rule that even if there is no evidence you intended to discriminate, the results alone (not hiring enough freaks) is all the evidence they need to find you liable.

Alito is pretty good, probably the best Bush pick

Interesting fact

Scalia was from Trenton NJ while Alito was from Ewing NJ, only a few miles apart.

Scalia’s family eventually moved out of Trenton for Brooklyn.

If I’m not mistaken, Gorsuch is an Episcopalian and when that was revealed, I immediately thought, no way. There is no way a man of intelligence and faith in God would remain with such a “church” if he had discernment. He was the wrong choice. I’m certain Trump regrets it.

And she didn’t graduate from Harvard or Yale. So maybe she can just try to do the right thing rather than think she has to prove she is the cleverest little jerk in the room like Roberts.

I don’t know the explanation, but it is interesting to realize how far back some of this stuff goes.
My understanding is that in the very early days of our Republic (don’t forget to say that we are a REPUBLIC) - there was little appreciation for how the role of the Court (i.e., Supreme Court, as we call it now) would impact life in the USA.
In a very early case the SC ruled that they themselves were “the last word”.
As Federalism took a strong(er) hold on the nation it became almost impossible for the states to avoid the intrusions of Congress.
It is a most curious thing how some of the staunchest conservatives get turned around once they reach that SC appointment. Even more curious is how Clarence Thomas has been so consistent in his views.
Oh, is it okay to say that Clarence Thomas is black? Or is that going to get me doxed and harassed?

“If I’m not mistaken, Gorsuch is an Episcopalian...”

You are correct to a point; however, Gorsuch and his two siblings were raised as Catholics and he attended Jesuit-run Georgetown Preparatory School ...as did Justice Kavanaugh.

Reports such as this reminds me of a brilliant observation by the late conservative author, M. Stanton Evans:

The reason our guys [conservatives] never get into high places is that as soon as they get into high places, they’re no longer our guys.

No! The SC stated that DHS needed to follow the Administrative Procedures Act.

This puts the entire Federalist Society in doubt as well.

They need to be eliminated from the selection process for the next supreme court pick.

To be fair, there are some decent, socially conservative Episcopalians (I believe an Episcopalian priest was one of the speakers at the March for Life), but its rare. But being "Episcopalian" by itself wouldn't be a disqualifier for me.

WORSE though, Gorsuch was born and RAISED Roman Catholic his whole life, and later switched to Episcopalian in college. There are TONS of examples of socially liberal people switching from Catholic to Episcopalian because the latter church is more in line with their views (women priests and gay marriage and all that), but I have yet to see an single example of a CONSERVATIVE person switching from Catholic to Episcopalian.

And EVEN WORSE, there are TWO Episcopalian churches in Neil Gorsuch's hometown. One of them, which is closer to Gorsuch's house, is more conservative and the church issues a statement on their website stating they only support traditional marriage. But Gorsuch and wife INSTEAD joined the more liberal one with the abortion-loving, envirowacko, feminazi pastor.

FReepers tried to compare this to Catholics remaining Catholic after Pope Francis, which is ridiculous since Catholics globally have no control over who the Cardinals elect as Pope. But they CERTAINLY have the power to control which congregation they join and which pastor they have.

If FReepers truly felt that Gorsuch's choice of church made NO DIFFERENCE, then they owed Barack Obama an apology for attacking him over the Jermimah Wright stuff.
