Editorial: It's not enough to apologize to Colin Kaepernick. The NFL needs to give him a job
Los Angeles Times ^ | June 16, 2020 | The Times Editorial Board

National Football League Commissioner Roger Goodell may have just been trying to score PR points with players and the public this month when he tweeted out a statement condemning systemic racism, acknowledging that there would be no NFL without Black players and encouraging players to "speak out and peacefully protest."

We can spend hours dissecting Kaepernick's abilities as a player, but comparing him to the dozens of other quarterbacks who've played in the three years he's been sidelined — some of them stars, many of them hacks — is beside the point.

No LA Times it is the point. You hire the best person for the job. Could be why your staff is so incompetent that your readership has plummeted. Anyhow it doesn't matter no one is going to watch the NFL this year.

Perhaps Roger Goodell could hire him as his gardner or to drive his car for him?

I agree with the LA Times.

Colon Kaepernick should be the commissioner of the NFL.

If your "sports league" isn't about sports anymore, then what difference does it make who the commissioner is?

Perhaps Roger Goodell could hire him as his gardner or to drive his car for him?

Or use him as a lawn jockey.

The New MFL should redistribute points to teams based on how many minority payers are on each team. When all teams become 100% minorities then all games will be ties and there will be true equality.

He will be signed.

He will start.

He will throw 75 touchdowns with a .983 completion percentage as black DB’s start falling down five yards short of the receiver.

I get the sense that Goodell is throwing the owners under the bus. But It doesn’t make sense.

He knows no team wants Kaepernick, not only for political reasons, but also simply because he’s a back-up QB who has been out of the game for nearly 4 years.

So why virtue-signal on this? Why raise the possibility?

I’m all for it. In fact, pay him more than Brady ever got. Then, make sure all of his passes are completions, and he’s never sacked. Hold parades in his honor, and fire any player that questions his abilities. Let’s do this - it’s the direction we’re going anyway. I just want to speed up the absurdity.

I can’t understand why anyone watches the NFL anymore.

This quarterback and other athletes who constantly whine should be kneeling in front of spectators who pay admission — mostly whites and usually males — and thank them for making them rich and giving them the opportunity to speak their mind about perceived injustices. Get on your knees and bow to your customer, quarterback.
