Top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell says he's "OK" with renaming military bases that are named after Confederate Army officers, declining to side with President Donald Trump and other Republicans opposed to the move.
The Kentucky senator said he'll live with whatever lawmakers decide as they debate an annual defence policy bill for the military in the coming weeks.
Trump has blasted the calls to rename the military bases. "Hopefully our great Republican Senators won't fall for this!" he said in a tweet last week.

Once again, the GOP, aka, Gutless Old Party proves It’s name. It seems almost every day we open up another vein and artery; bleeding freedom and national sovereignty.
So, you would like to see McConnell voted out of office? And which RAT would replace him? And how would that be an improvement?
The worst RINO is better than the best RAT — except for Romney, but we still need his seat.
I don’t agree with everything Mitch does, but he has been fine on judicial appointments, etc.
I’m weary of the purist mentality that I see so often on these threads. “Senator Smerdlap only agrees with me 90 percent of the time. So he’s a no-good RINO! Vote him out of office!”
I suspect this base renaming business is going to blow over, just like a lot of other childish tantrums from the left.
Personally, I’m looking forward to seeing the leftards continue to turn on each other, as leftards always do. Read about the French Revolution if you doubt me on this point.
I suspect we’ll be hearing about food shortages in that CHAZ or CHOP or CRAP area of Seattle before too long.
That will be news to savor indeed. Bad as things are, we still have reality on our side.

China. Mitch move here is a direct attack on Trump just before the election.
Mitch wants to wipe out Trumps chances by setting him to have to veto this bill and lose millions of Moderate and Blacks .
He could table this matter but no he wants to force trumps veto or
have Trump lose his base by not vetoing the bill .

It’s simply not up to Mitch...he doesn’t “own” the Senate.
