Its true, they did get rid of the local police department

BUT

They replaced it with a county police force and kept 100 of the previous officers from the old force.

It was done to get rid of corruption within the ranks and Camden’s was the most corrupt in the country at that time.

Leftists will say hey look defunding the police worked!

But in reality, it was just replacing a corrupt police force with a new one with all new leadership and new officers.

Let the left run on the platform of defunding the police, I have a feeling Trump is going to make them eat that and he will win a landslide victory we haven’t seen in decades.

Also important to remember that the city was BROKE. The real reason they “defunded” the police was due to the fact they had no money to pay these unionized cops.

“It was done to get rid of corruption within the ranks and Camden’s was the most corrupt in the country at that time.”

That may have been a side benefit, but it was actually done for the same reason the urban dumps in northern NJ are farming out their welfarians to neighboring suburbs - the cities can’t afford basic services for their idle consumers.

Camden’s costs were simply kicked up to the county level, so people nowhere near the actual city were paying the city’s police bills.
