NBA Coach Gregg Popovich: ‘The flag is irrelevant. It’s just a symbol

NBA Coach Gregg Popovich: ‘The flag is irrelevant. It’s just a symbol…”

To San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, being in the NBA isn’t enough. He has to be at the center of the political and cultural debates happening across the nation today. Unfortunately, he echoes the sentiment of many elite, entitled progressives that America is terrible and anyone who disagrees with them must be a Trump-loving fascist.

In a recent interview with Maureen Dowd of the New York Times, Popovich sounded off against those in sports who aren’t aligned with his far-left ideology. The popular sports figure who majored in “Soviet Studies” in college before acquiring Air Force intelligence training vouched for fellow social justice warrior Colin Kaepernick and went after everyone from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to former Vice President Dick Cheney. He even took time to disrespect the U.S. Flag in the process.

“A smart man is running the NFL. and he didn’t understand the difference between the flag and what makes the country great — all the people who fought to allow [Colin] Kaepernick to have the right to kneel for justice,” Popovich said. “The flag is irrelevant. It’s just a symbol that people glom onto for political reasons, just like [Dick] Cheney back in the Iraq war. . . . [Goodell] got intimidated when Trump jumped on the kneeling [and] he folded.”

It's without question, difficult for some. At the end of the day, its a choice. One that is not unique to today. Not by a country mile. One that had to be made many, many times before.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." ~Samuel Adams, 1776

This is true, but where the men in the time of Adams could send their families off to safety from their enemies, that’s no longer an option in the modern time. There are cases where that’s been tried and the family was still SWATted. Something needs to be done about SWATting and the people that do it. Caller ID needs authentication.

Disagree, completely. People of today have more opportunity, more options, to send their family away if that what they think is needed. More locations, quicker, and relatively speaking, cheaper.

Go even further back in time, and that disparity becomes even larger compared to today.

Then I'm sure he wouldn't mind my taking a "BLM" flag and wiping my *ss with it, would he? After all, it's only a symbol.

The NBA is irrelevant. It’s just a bunch of adults playing a children’s game of throwing a ball through a hoop.

I will never watch a live NBA game again...I might watch a high lite or two...

But they are NOT getting my money ever again.

Not like they did ever...I went to two LA Lakers games way back when...SHOW TIME.

Was fun...but they can rot in hell...now.

You’d think so, but electronics and the internet make tracking down people pretty easily. There are documented cases where people’s families fled from leftist cancel culture cultists and ended up getting SWATted in their random hotel room several states over.

Keep in mind that if you send your family away to a place where there’s no internet possible, that’s basically the end of their businesses, careers, etc.

Ron Dellums described himself as a socialist.

In the 1970s, Dellums was a member of the Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee, an offshoot of the Socialist Party of America. He later became vice-chair of the Democratic Socialists of America

This dope — and Lebron James — have plenty to say about the NFL situation with the national anthem, Roger Goodell, and Colon Kaepernick ... but they don’t mention the NBA. Why not? They work for NBA teams, after all.

Here’s why they don’t talk about the NBA: It’s because the NBA already had their “flag controversy” back in the 1990s — and the NBA players union caved on the issue when they signed an agreement with the NBA that required everyone to stand respectfully for the anthem.

Foe these jackasses to now get involved in the same controversy in another sports league after all that is comical.

Is it just me, or has Popovich been losing brain cells at an alarming pace for the last decade or so? His liberalism seems to be universal among NBA coaches (perhaps to prevent “talent rebellions”) however, his appalling stupidity is shocking.

If you search “rule 303”, a movie called Breaker Morant is mentioned, if this helps.

Let him trash the Nike Swoosh, the Gatorade G, or the symbol of any other NBA corporate sponsor and see what pushback he gets.

Oliver Stone did serve in the army during Vietnam War...Yes, he is a liberal...

Yes, but I am talking about commissioned officers. Other than John F’n Kerry, I don’t think there were many.
I knew one POS, who was in the SDS. That was 1968. I had never heard of them. They should have been called the SCS, students for a communist society.
