The whole reason for the lockdown was to prevent hospitals from being totally overwhelmed. People cannot remain in isolation forever. Even the most vulnerable, however protected, will eventually come in contact with this virus. Some will sicken and some will die. Gradually and painfully “herd immunity” will develop. The only rational to enforce a strict lockdown is the expectation that an effective, safe vaccine is imminent. Otherwise people knowing the risks ought to be allowed to exercise their freedom
A big problem here in NJ and neighboring NY is that while we already have among the highest property taxes in the nation, towns are openly talking about raising them much higher to deal with the reduced state aid sue to follow the steeply declining income tax the states collect from locked-down businesses. They are openly stating they intend to make up the shortfalls on the backs of individuals (whether they are working or not); nobody is talking about reducing the government workforce or even furloughing the workers. As far as I can see they’ve drawn full pay this whole time, even if the government offices were closed.
You don’t quarantine “well people”. We would have had herd immunity in full force by now....instead of this trickle down herding.
