Taiwan has fired missiles off its coastline as it boosts the islands defence against the increasingly aggressive China.
The test is understood to have taken place off the coast of the easterly Taitung county and at the Jiupeng military base in the southernmost county of Pinging on Thursday.
Taiwan is an island of the south-east coast of China which is independent from the superpower.
Taiwans defence ministry said it was part of a four-day missile test and other weapons would follow a similar drill in the coming days.
But, it did not reveal what missiles were tested or whether future tests would be carried out between Friday and Tuesday.
The developer of the missiles, National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, also declined to name the missiles, saying the test was in line with the defence ministrys plan to develop the islands own weapons.

Maranatha!
Kind of cheeky China claiming another country’s air space as their own.
I think when China counts the cost of attacking Taiwan, they will decide it is not worth it.
China has created a huge military with up to date modern weapons, missiles, ships and aircraft. Its economy is deteriorating. Historically when that has happened, a major war begins. Always wondered however if China does invade Taiwan, will Taiwan resist and fight back? They can no longer depend on the United States to fight with them.
Alas how will this “impact” people of color?

China is free to do as it wishes. We are too busy tearing ourselves apart, and they know it.
Hmmmm
I told someone that ChiComs have to make their move and soon.
20 years ago, the PLA navy was outmatched by *one* US carrier strike group. It may take three now.
What will we do to h/elp them defend tehmselves?
Yes this would be a good time. I was surprised they didn’t do
it during Obongo. He would not have done a thing about it.
It may come down to sinking a good number of their ships. Wouldn’t be surprised if a bunch of hunter/killer subs were also in the area.
Russia pretty much has free reign in Europe and the Baltic as well. Might as well, now or never...
Know it?
They paid for it.
USS Harry S. Truman has been in the Pacific has been ordered to stay at sea
USS Theodore Roosevelt is in the Philippines.
The last time 5 strike groups in the same water was the Iraq war that I'm aware of.

The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Middle East
Yes that’s true, but we’d never know about it.
Yes, I know.
And I hope the Red Chinese don’t figure it out....before it’s too late.
For them.
America (and the world) is/are still reeling from lockdowns (still locked-down in many places) and we are dramatically divided politically with inner cities burning and being looted.
The time is right and the window of opportunity is short (short because soon America will be back at work, the rioters and looters (ahem, "protestors") will soon be bored, and appeasing mayors and governors will soon reap what they've sown.
The iron is hot.
Thanks for those links. Very interesting!
Conflict with China has been inevitable for a long time. The feckless pinheads who populate much of Washington DC have responded to this grave threat by sending all of our manufacturing to China; letting them have most favored nation trading status; tolerating huge trade deficits with them; letting them steal our technology, secrets, and ignore our intellectual property rights; AND, letting 100s of thousands of Chinese students and post-docs into the country to be educated in technology and science in American universities.
