Florida police officers resign from SWAT unit, say they feel 'restrained by politicization of our tactics'

Almost a dozen South Florida police officers resigned from their city's SWAT unit this week, claiming that they did not feel safe and that "the politicalization of our tactics" limited them in doing their jobs.

The group of ten officers wrote to Hallandale Beach Police Chief Sonia Quinones on Tuesday to notify her of their resignations.

In the letter, obtained by CNN, the officers claimed that they were "minimally equipped, under trained and often times restrained by the politicization of our tactics to the extent of placing the safety of dogs over the safety of the team members."

They added: "Until these conditions and sentiments are rectified and addressed, we cannot safely, effectively and in good faith carry out duties in this capacity without putting ourselves and our families at this needless increased level of risk."

Their resignations come as calls for law enforcement reform following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25 dominate the national discourse.

The news also comes after 57 Buffalo, N.Y., police officers resigned from the Buffalo Police Department Emergency Response Team after two officers on the force were were suspended and criminally charged for pushing a 75-year-old man who was protesting to the ground, critically injuring him.

I'm sure there's quite a few folks excited over the prospect of police units and departments imploding.

They don't realize when the average citizen decides law and order needs to be restored.....the citizen will set his own rules of engagement - ie none.

The resignations are totally understandable and justified. Being on the SWAT team was not worth the risk of getting killed outright , or sent to prison for pushing a bank robber.

It does mean our society is much closer to barbarism than we thought we were last week.

Not a fan of SWAT teams and no-knock warrants anyway. I'm sure they'll receive healthy pension packages.

Commence flaming. I'm ready for it.

Hmmm... I wonder how it was CNN that “obtained” the letter. Wouldn’t that be considered internal correspondence?

They just revert to normal beat cops, they are not quitting the Police Dept.

Alinsky-Soros-Dem-Socialist plan (do I repeat myself?)

Rile up a self-pitying group to demand privileges for being wronged.

Set them against the police who cannot freely fight back.
Undermine, defame, slander the police. Make them miserable so they get short tempered and fight someone who taunts them.

Make some demoralized, others to retire, more to resign or transfer. Throw remaining police into chaos while critics take potshots at them all day in the media. And budgets go down as a sign of caring about the “community.”

Defund police as a virtue signaling vote getting ploy, with no solution after that.

Solution found: national police force or Black Panthers who will rough up and kill whites since they lack the restraint of formal disciplined training of true local police.

National police will have no regard for any local people or knowledge of the background of situations (round up people who want a statue to stay up, start firing indiscriminately at locals they don’t like when emotional in a tense standoff).

Whites have no true police to call in emergencies. Crime runs rampant.

Plan worked to ruin America.

Please ask your Dem associates and relatives:
Is this what you really want? This is what you and BLM are forcing upon all of us.

What to do about Dems near us, including relatives and in laws, is up to all of us.

Funny how CNN somehow “obtains” documents that are the most corrosive to the Republic.

Oh. They’ll just be replaced by other cops. So, nothing’s changed. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

Raz, the self appointed thug of Seattle can expand his third world hellhole to cover the rest of the United States...

‘Elites’ don’t need police - they buy their own security.

Criminals don’t want police - easier to rob, rape and murder without the police around.

The only people that need the police are honest middle class citizens. That’s us.

Yes, this is terrible...It’ll be Lord of the Flies writ large..

But I can understand why they’re resigning. I think if they manage to revoke sovereign immunity (which means the police can’t be sued personally for actions in the line of duty) you’re going to see massive resignations. AnD this is not for police brutality - an LEO friend said that every cop who has ever arrested somebody for domestic violence, has had to take a child out of an abusive home, or even arrested somebody for a serious traffic violation, has enemies. And those enemies will just go wild if they feel they can sue our of vengeance.

This is not about restitution because of police brutality or some such thing, which is already done through the department, but a personal set up of an officer out of spite in order to attach his wages, seize his home, car, savings, etc...because you know the judge or jury will always side with the plaintiff, no matter how ridiculous the case.

Expect a huge wave of early retirements if this happens.

Why does a suburb of 37,000 people need a ten member SWAT team?

Democrats want to replace police (who protect us all) with 'enforcers' - (thugs who hold the party line and protect the 'in' political gang. Hitler had the SS - Stalin his 'secret police'..."

New "police" will be loyal to democrats, antifa, and friends of people in those power groups.

Your democrat family and friends might think they're safe but it'll take more than a "D" on their registration card to buy them safety.

Democrats/commies have flipped the military (remember how hated the military was a few years back?

No more - liberals luv 'em now that they're PC social experiment enforcers.

Our soldiers didn't have enough parts to keep planes in the air but all services were providing trans with free medical care and guarantees of NO OVERSEAS assignments (because trans needed to be near their surgeons... for two years for their $150,000 surgeries...)

You want to know if the enforcers could put us on trains and ship us off to death camps? You betcha they could...
