Since when do you have to have a carry permit to purchase guns and ammo, never heard of never needed one. Although I am seriously considering getting one, its getting too uncertain out there to go anywhere unarmed.
I do know that a state like Illinois requires a FOID card, but I do not live in a commie state.

Probably depends on the state. In Florida, a rifle I bought on-line some years ago had to be delivered to a licensed gun dealer who charged me a $30 handling fee. Ammo came straight to my house. In Florida, you can walk out the door of a gun shop with a firearm if you have a concealed carry license, otherwise you have to wait for a background check. To get a carry license has become a bit more tiresome since the Commissioner of Agriculture (a Democrat who handles them) was elected. I think shes being sued by the NRA.
