Police arrest Tacoma woman accused of setting five patrol cars on fire during Seattle protest

A 25-year-old Tacoma woman was arrested Thursday morning on five federal counts of arson after police say she burned five Seattle police vehicles on fire as protests turned violent in downtown Seattle on May 30.

U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran said in a news release that Margaret Aislinn Channon was taken into custody without incident at her Tacoma home.

Channon is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Friday. Arson is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

“This defendant was captured by multiple cameras using an accelerant, lit like a blowtorch, to start fires in five vehicles -- putting the public at risk and creating the very real possibility of a structure fire amidst the throng of people protesting downtown,” Moran said in a news release. “I commend the painstaking work of law enforcement using a variety of images to identify the defendant and locate her so she can be held accountable.”

Officials said, investigators from the FBI, the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Seattle Police Department reviewed videos taken of the arsons May 30 and of a protest held May 29.

Investigators said Channon appeared in videos from both days and said tattoos on her hands and arms were clearly visible.

Federal arson charges? Doesn’t the state have a law against arson? Why exactly do we need ‘federal arson charges’?

Trust me — it will be $25 and time served.

They can save a lot of time if the just get Judge Stone to preside on all crimes surrounding the riots.

The fine should be al she owns or ever has a chance of owning and the sentence should be prison until she stops breathing.

The federal charge is very serious, that one isn’t just gonna go away... The state of Washintonstan yes, they’d likely sweep it away.

Washington State does have arson statutes on the books...Remains to be seen if a Seattle DA charges her...

She could be looking at least at a charge of arson in the second degree, a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to $20,000 or both.

Then again, it could all just go away as most of these charges seem to do...Seattle being run and populated mostly by Leftards, it’s what I’d expect...

I’d bet that way if she were charged with a city or state crime. But she’s being charged with a federal crime. So this should be interesting.

It’s the dress rehearsal for communities that ‘defund police’ and if it isn’t acceptable.... too bad... It’s what they were all howling for!

Her punishment will be a full graduate school scholarship at Harvard and a $300,000 preliminary book deal.

The liberal jurisdictions aren’t prosecuting these in a lot of areas. They’ll wish they had.

Look at the fed non-response to date. The Deep State continues to run things there. They will “decline to prosecute.”

Mark my words.

Nope, the Feds don't do that. If it were a local, sympathetic prosecutor it'd be a different story.

This lefty broad is about to be made an example.
