The movie-star look to SpaceX's new spacesuits is just one of the innovative features the Crew Dragon astronauts enjoyed during the Demo-2 test flight to the International Space Station.
NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken were the first humans to wear the suits in space during their mission, which began May 30 with a flawless launch from Florida the first human spaceflight from the region since the space shuttle program ended in 2011.

Im sure they probably worked great, but they are very unserious looking. They look like LEGO characters.
According to the article, those suites are not designed for a space walk. Guess that suit, for spacewalks will have to come later.
On the day of the launch, I heard that the helmets are made on a 3-D printer.
Gotta be #1 in space, for a number of reasons.
They badly need sponsor patches, more like NASCAR. /s
Ha! Agreed. That was my first though when I saw them.
At least they dont look like the, Kenny, space suits from the movie Sunshine.
They look like Stormtroopers ,LOL
I think they look great.
Theres no accounting for taste. :^)
NASA wants custom sized suits again so that they do not run out of woman sized suits again.
The SpaceX suit looks the way it does because Elon Musk hired a sci-fi costume designer to work the external appearance.
NASA's new orange suit, the Orion Crew Survival System suit is also custom sized. I do not know if it has been finalized yet, NASA showed it off last October.
I love this stuff.
Two men in white apparel, in the heavens, talking about five stars. It's all in the timing.
Looks inspired by the movie Tron. Glad they find it comfortble.
“Astronauts Doug Hurley (left) and Bob Behnken in their SpaceX spacesuits at Launch Pad 39A with their Falcon 9 rocket and Crew Dragon spacecraft in the background before launch. The SpaceX pressure suits are designed to keep astronauts safe in the spacecraft and not for spacewalks. “
If by serious-looking, you mean needlessly bulky, movement restricting, clunky jointed, sure! -rolleyes-
Yup, looking good is important too, especially when dealing with old-line people still dragging their heels about private spaceflight.
There’s also an important issue with custom suits - in a depressurization event, any slack in the suit inflates. This reduces mobility and agility considerably. A custom fitted suit will aid the wearer in dealing with whatever caused the depressurization; the one-size-fits-many suits previously used are rather exhausting as you have to fight the suit to move. Hard sci-fi writers have been writing about custom fitted ‘skinsuits’ for decades for this reason.

Where do they keep their Glocks
