Gotta dance to whatever tune America's blacks play. This is preposterous. They're only getting bolder and are laughing at stupid, spineless crackers.

And we're just going to let it go on and on and on......

The statues have been tryong to convince folks for the last 150 years that the outcome was different than what really happened.

Yep - these fools don’t get that they can be used for education and understanding historical context.

You could make an argument for every single statue in the world to be removed.

Idiocy.

Since statues are necessary for the teaching of history, how about we erect some Sherman, Grant and Lincoln statues in city squares across the South?
_____________________________________________________________
Because statues of Sherman, Grant, and Lincoln would all be torn down. Sherman was a virulent racist, as was 99.9% of the North’s population. Grant wrote anti-Semitic thoughts and totally hated Jews (feel free to Google articles about Grant’s Jew-hatred). Grant also owned a slave. Lincoln was a white supremacist. During the Lincoln-Douglas debates, Lincoln made clear that whites and blacks were not equal. He opposed blacks having the right to vote, serve on juries, and an Illinois law that PROHIBITED ALL BLACKS from entering the State of Illinois. Lincoln also supported shipping all blacks back to Africa.
The reason why it is moronic to tear Confederate statues down is because it being done so on the premise that Southerners fought to “preserve white supremacy.” LOL. They fought the war because the South was attacked. And they seceded in the first place because Lincoln was the first “sectional” president who would totally screw over southern interests that extended well beyond slavery.

If they ever realize that Jacksonville is named for Andrew Jackson, they will have to rename it after Jesse Jackson.

King County, Washington, was originally named for William R. King, Vice President of the US in 1853 (he died soon after taking office). A few years ago they renamed it for Martin Luther King, Jr.

When they go for the statues of those Yankee war criminals, I’ll be leading the charge sledgehammer in hand.

Good point. Also where are all the statues and memorials to the United States Colored Troops that were raised from the slaves freed from the south during the war? 133,000 of the 178,950 black Americans who fought for America during the war were former slaves from the southern states. Why doesn’t South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, etc. have statues commentating their service?

The Islamist terrorist just blew up the statues that they disapproved of destroying them forever. Let’s hope that the history terrorist are at least preserving the statues that they hate as they attempt to erase our history. Someday, a generation of the future may decide to erect them again.

oincobx :" Is that why there aren’t statues to Sherman and Grant across the South?
Was their omission an effort to rewrite history?"

Naw ! It has nothing to do with intentional re-write of history.
Why I know people from Alabama who refuse to acknowledge that there was a winner,
and are still passively fighting the Civil War.
They refer to it as the contention over 'States Rights'.

Also, there has been little forgiveness for Grant by many in the South, especially for the 'Trail of Tears'.

And yet Lincoln wasn’t as racist as anyone from the south.

Uh, you may want to do a little research on the above statement. Lincoln actively considered “recolonization” plans for slaves DURING the Civil War. His plan for freed slaves was to ship them to Liberia or to buy a Caribbean island and colonize it. As a state legislator, he supported the Illinois law which forbade ALL blacks from entering Illinois. He married into a slave owning family. He made multiple speeches where he stated that blacks were inferior to whites, etc. I’m not sure you can be much more “racist” than that. I’m not suggesting Southerners were better on this issue. Obviously, slavery was horrible. But most people in the North, especially New Englanders looked at blacks as completely subhuman and refused contact with them. Northern politicians constantly berated their Southern counterparts by noting their closeness to blacks.

No More Fort Bragg? Army Mulls Stripping Names Of All Bases Named After Confederate Generals

For the first time in decades since the issue was initially raised by the NAACP and other groups, the Pentagon says it’s now “open” to considering renaming all Army bases named after Confederate generals and leaders, after pressure coming from activists and civil rights groups amid George Floyd and ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests gripping the nation for the past two weeks.

This includes the sprawling Fort Hood base in Texas, named after Confederate General John Bell Hood, as well as nine other Army posts, especially Fort Lee Army Base in Virginia, named for top Confederate general Robert E. Lee.

No less than Secretary of Defense Mark Esper and Secretary of the Army Ryan McCarthy signaled early this week they are “open to a bi-partisan discussion on the topic,” according to an official Army statement.

That’s been debated for years.

Why is our country named after an Italian mapmaker?
