I-45 project will shorten commutes, but may force many to find new homes (links)
TxDOT’s $7 billion project to widen I-45 can potentially relocate more than 1,000 homes and 340 businesses.
The project will rebuild I-45 from downtown Houston north to Beltway 8, and change how it connects with other downtown freeways. That means rebuilding — by removing — pieces of Fifth Ward, the Northside, Acres Homes and Aldine.
The latest estimates show the rebuild would impact 158 houses, 433 apartments or condos, 486 public housing units, 340 businesses, five churches and two schools.

These aren't 2.5 million "new jobs created."
This is heavily skewed to 2.5 million people who were furloughed getting called back to work. That's a damn' good thing!
I personally know four people outside my own family who've been called back after being furloughed. They were very happy to get back to work and some "normalcy" in their lives.
We're definitely on the right path, I cannot imagine the kind of shape this country would've been in had the Democrats won the White House and increased taxes before this hit.
IMO President Trump and his leadership gets 100% of the credit. He picked the very people to work with to help him put all the right pieces in place so that we could come out of this pandemic and get our economy going again.
I will not comment on how this pandemic crap all started, the validaty (or lack thereof) of the reasons we shut down the economy or anything else. Our singular focus needs to be getting EVERYONE back to work and get our great economy moving again.

True. My youngest swore into the Marine Corps the other day and is waiting to ship out. As he watched the news and dirt bags, sheep, rioters, lazy unwashed he said to me Dad they are all college age do they not have a job. I told him yu will hardly ever see someone over 30 here because we p[ay taxes, understand life and freedom.

I think China Virus/lockdowns/riots were the Gettysburg/Vicksburg moment. The war ain’t over. We still have Atlanta, Cold Harbor ahead. May be hard. However, who has won is NOT in question.

Our restaurants are open, limited seating, but now they have an added takeout that is crazy. Once they get back to 100% capacity, they will have expanded their business by about 10%.
100% correct, however, take restaurants: where I live, takeout is big. Although restaurants are only at 30%, they have gained 50% more takeout. So when they get back to 100% capacity, they will retain a substantial amount of their current takeout.
I think they will see net growth. Some couldn’t make it. That’s sad.

If I remember right, and my Civil War simulation games seem to inform me, Cold Harbor was a bloodbath for both sides. No real purpose, the outcome wasn’t in doubt and the bloodbath changed nothing.
